    Ello Gents,

I've got this report to write on Emerging Display Technologies, so far got a bit briefly talking about whats current, CRT, LCD, Plasma.

And then the main part talking about whats becoming more common, IPS, LED (blacklighting), OLED, Touch Screens, 3D, Projectors, E-Ink.

And then future stuff in development, Paper View technology, Holograms, Laser Projection, Heads up Display.

    --------

So far I've just talked about these, how they work, what uses they have, market place, issues, how one improves on the other and generally tying it all together as you do.

However I'm certain I'll be missing out a few technologies, if anyone can think of more please post. Remember its any type of display, be it monitors, tv's, phones, all the way to submarine radar :) Anything new and interesting!

    Thanks

Funny my friend had to a report on this the other year. She asked me for info and I suggested LED dispalys, and she was like "whats that?". This was before they came out haha.

One you don't have listed is a future technology which is contact lens display. There are a few companies trying to get this done, but I found one of them. With the advancement of wireless power, this will become possible.

I remember a line in Mass Effect 2 about "aerogel displays." Having already known about aerogels I looked up the possibilities of that a few ways later and it turns out one theoretical 3-dimensional Holographic image projection system involves projecting an image from 3 angles onto a block of clear aerogel produced in a low-gravity environment.

When I was in college we had to do a very similar thing I
ended up going to Wikipedia (even though we were told not to.
It helped immensely in pointing the way.

By the way little of-topic so far these new screens don't seem
to be lasting long. You'll be lucky if they go past 4 years
    at a guess. A friends Sony Bravia Z4500 46" 200Hz LED
Backlit Tv just developed a line 3mm wide & 12" long of
dead pixels... £1400 for two years.... :3eyes:

I followed OLED in its early days and Cambridge Display Technologies (CDT) in the UK were the first to develop the Polymer OLED (P-OLED).

    Why be cheeky?

An F-16 jet isn't exactly common end user technology is it, HUD is still being Developed for other things.

    Example
