I just logged back into FFXIV with DX11 at 4k which wouldn't run on AMD so I had to stick to DX9 and the difference in framerate is astounding!!!!

I thought because it was an MMO crowded areas like MorDhona were meant to run at 24fps in 4k............I S*** you not I am running this exact area crammed with people in DX11 so there is tessellation on the ground and I'm way exceeding 60fps at all times, the fluidity is insane! I'm such a D*** for thinking I was getting within 20-30% of Nvidia with a 295X2 and I wasn't even in the same game.

I swear last time I ever go AMD. Nvidia if you want to shift cards shift them onto FFXIV AMD owners you'll make a sale every time!

Generally speaking, you would expect some improvement if you spend 3x as much.

Where are you guys getting three times the price? In the states the 980Ti is $650 that comes to $1300 the 295x2 goes for $650 currently so only double and he is getting more than double performance.

The title is CF290X which means 2 290x yes? They are £220 here. £440 for 2. The 980Ti are £550 each. Not quite 3 times but oh well.

More like going from a Honda Civic Si to a 2014 Camaro Z-28 (just as fast as the Ferrari just not as much money). Guess what card is the Farrari?

Your running it in 4k. Even though its an MMO, I would assume you are gpu limited. So yeah...I would assume a 980 ti sli would be twice as fast.

The 295x2 would probably still be good at 1080p or 1440p. 4k no way.

How quickly people forget that when the 295X2 was released, it was nowhere NEAR the price that it is now. It was $1500 when it was released! The 295X2 was the card that was 3x the price, not the 980ti's.

Well what did you expect, the 290X CF is not any faster than a single 980Ti so getting 2 of those should give you a massive performance bump

    Headline has a typo.
He writes 295x2 in the post and if you look at his hardware you see 295x2 there as well.

People forgetting 290x was made to compete with Kepler and not big Maxwell (which was nowhere in sight)... sigh.
