Hilbert, I'm in the market for a new wireless router. Any guidance on where to look for reviews? Price range up to $450. Hard to tell what's junk and what's not.
Need decent range and I have gigabit internet.

It's a Belkin product. Don't touch it. I mistakenly bought a Linksys WRT1900ACS which kept randomly resetting umpteen times a day. Many others were having the same problem with the same model, and with *replacements*. It took months for Linksys support to update the firmware. The last firmware update fixed the resetting problem at the cost of a severely reduced wireless signal strength. On the positive side, open source firmware like DD-WRT functions better on this router than Linksys' own firmware.

Never had a problem with my WRT1900AC (v1). What did you end up replacing it with?

They work great with OpenWRT/LEDE too. I run LEDE on mine and it's a beast, pretty sure they were mainly intended for this purpose. I'd be happier recommending it over most other brands, especially anything Broadcom based. Marvell stuff is definitely more solid than any of my Qualcomm routers (wdr4300, archer c7 v2, c2600).

I'll be picking up a WRT3200ACM for sure. 88W8964 support was just added to mwlwifi https://github.com/kaloz/mwlwifi/commits/master

    Order a Ubiquiti UAP-AC-LR
    https://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-UAP-AC-LR-Networks-Enterprise-System/dp/B015PRCBBI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1476500205&sr=8-1&keywords=Ubiquiti+UAP-AC-LR

then build a pfsense box with either an old computer or build a bare bones for cheap.

Decided to go with a Orbi based on small net builder and other reviews. Seems to be the fastest of all the other mesh type systems. I don't have the option to run wires to APs, so wireless mesh is the way to go for me, and Orbi seems to blow everyone else away, doesn't get cut in half with hops like everyone else.
