I think they're just helping the developer more, amd's attutude is more "here's some open source stuff, do something with it."
Looks good, runs good, game does nothing that warrants it existing. What's with all these souls likes that do nothing unique? Seems most devs are happy making an inferior clone and calling it a day, baffling.
I played the demo but apart from completely ripping off the Bloodborne aesthetic I found the game to be very generic and dull to play, offering nothing that I haven't seen before in countless other FromSoftware RPGs and similar clones. The game had no hook for me and absolutely nothing that made me even want to play this even if it was free (which it kind of is since it is on GamePass).
Used to be common in mmorpg launches. For singleplayer games, who cares though? You aren't missing out on anything playing a few days later on the official launch.
You can often get the premium / early access version of a game for the same price or less than the standard version on Steam, e.g. Lies of P is £49.99 on Steam for the Standard version but the Premium version with early access is £47.99 on CDKeys.com. Of course, you lose the refund option you have on Steam but I rarely buy new releases on Steam these days but instead buy them for other key sellers, usually when they’re released and the reviews are out. I rarely pre-order but I bought premium versions of recent games for much less than they sell on Steam or wherever for Starfield, The Crew: Motorfest and Mortal Kombat 1.
Which games did this happen with?, I have been trying different Mods to add FSR 2.x to games like control, Metro Ex Enhanced Ed, and SOTTR with limited success.
I also don`t like it but it`s not like this "play early" is that important in the end. And i buy most of my games on sale anyway...
How does this have anything to do with "importance", etc? It's about developers try to boost their sales (for deluxe edtions etc.) with some early playable accees, like "here you can play 3 days early if you want but you need to pay 10 bucks extra". Thats the same thing with lootboxes and micro ingame, you CAN but you dont NEED! Its also not "important" if you dont plan to use that crapy anyway - but, it is a good idea!?
Developers have always tried to boost their deluxe/special editions with some sort of perks to justify their higher prices, so this is nothing new. Much worse is when they add XP and weapons/armors to those who buy these editions, giving some players an unfair advantage over others. But in this case, just buy the cheaper version and wait a few days.
It does seem a bit dull from what I can gather, as many others I'm getting bored with "Difficult" games that end up simply boring. Is there really such a large market for games that are "Hard", and offer nothing else?
