    AMD does it again.
This will undoubtedly help them with their bloated inventory? Possibly boost 7950 sales?

EDIT: Ok, I may have been too harsh. But AMD needs to get a better hold of their partners. Premature marketing DOES hurt current products.

Your previous bias does distract somewhat from a point you appear to be trying to make somewhere in that edited post.

Personally I don't think too much can be read into that amount of limited information. In fact it's next to nothing really.

Why do you say edited? Look, now it's edited again.
Fixing spelling and grammar in a post... Is that against code of conduct?

And please, instead of "my previous bias", I would rather if we discuss the issue at hand.

    Thank you.

He does have a point though. Neither AMD nor their partners should be releasing information so far ahead of launch. It hampers sales of current products and diminishes resale value pre-maturely.

Their marketing department constantly shoots themselves in the foot by "leaking" information on new products months ahead of "official" announcements....which are always months ahead of the actual launch. The "official" announcement of a product launch should only be a few weeks ahead of a product launch and nothing should be getting "leaked" that could possibly hinder the sale of current products.

food for thought gurus, prepare your budget and mood

    story: 5870 =< 480 , 6970 < 580

    present and future: 7970 =< 680 , 8970 < 780

amd is not heading for high end gpu this time, they cannot..
their flagship : 8990 (as 6990 on the past)

    Who cares?

They're doing just fine by gpu department, 7000 will continue to sell like 6000 series did when first 7000 leaks appeared.

I don't understand how this kid is still not banned when 90% of his posts are like this?

Uh, AMD's GPU department managed to net $18M in profit Q3 2012. That's literally nothing. The company lost $157m and projected another 9% for Q4. No department in AMD is doing "just fine". They are all failing pretty miserably, hence why they laid off most of the key people in the GPU department along with 15% of the workforce.

AMD being fine, or not in red is not even a matter of discussion. But here it goes:

The Altman Z-Score is a formula used to measure risk of bankruptcy.

a score below 1.81 is considered to be a distress zone.

    AMD: -0.206
AMD is well below the cutoff for the distress zone.

What kind of an argument is "6000 continued to sell"?
GTX 480 also "continued to sell"
That's not to say it wouldn't sell much-much better if it wasn't hot and power hungry.

Q3 2012 (when AMD "continue to sell like 6000 series did when first 7000 leaks appeared")
AMD graphics division revenue - (minus) 15% compared to Q3 2011.

Same period comparison for NVDA +20%. So what gives? Other than their ridiculous, laid-off then rehired marketing team.

    wow

The only thing that matters to me is AMD 8900 series - the sooner the better, IDC about some company status and spread irrelevant info how to run it, etc..

But i see that its pretty common by you, especially when it comes to AMD vs Nvidia.

Time for a minimum of 4gb of ram imo, rather have an excess than be running low even if only coz of crappy ports.

That's true. But remember what you've said: "Who cares?"
That's your only undisputed contribution in this thread so far.

Also, facepalming people is not very nice, especially after you've been proven wrong.

What i dont care about is your fanboyism because its a little tiresome.

Hallryu said it right in first reply.
There is not munch or any gpu info anyway so its irrelevant for now, especially your marketing numbers.. ;p

Wake me up when we start to see some real details about GCN2 and GK110? hopefully its not just another GK104 (read* more cores kinda like GF114) middle ware chip >_<

The 8900 series won't matter if AMD doesn't become profitable very soon. They're bleeding funds due to piss poor management. Who wants a bright, shiny new graphics card with no support because it's maker went belly up?

His "marketing numbers"....are financial figures that show AMD to be on the verge of bankruptcy....which they've admitted themselves.

Am i missing something? because it looks like the 7970 and 8970 are exactly the same hardware spec wise.
