Why is it that many frown on people that choose to live a simple life? I chose not to go to college, though I do read college text books on subjects that I enjoy. I worked my way up to an administrative position & chose to leave it because it really didn't make me happy. The money was great, but for the most part it seems to just make things more complicated & certainly doesn't bring me anymore happiness. It may be a different story if I chose to get married & have kids, but I decided against that as well. So has anyone else decided to live a simple life without the trappings of marriage, decided that money isn't everything in life, & that happiness should be the main factor that decides how you live your life? Of course if those things make you happy then more power to you. To me it seems there is always a catch to the lifestyle one chooses. If you have a family, you need to make as much money as possible, which means working more, & in return seeing less of that family. For me I only have myself to rely on & who will be there for me if I make it to old age? Of course these are very basic examples that don't apply to everyone, but hopefully to see what I'm saying.
