    Hi there

About 2 months ago i bought an Acer Aspire 5920G laptop with an Nvidia 9500M GS.
    Workes fine and everything.
But recently i upgraded my driver to 180.44 (with a modded inf).

Now when i close my laptop it goes into sleep mode but i just doesn't come out of it, i tried every button on the on the keyboard and tried the touchpad but it just doesn't come out of sleep mode.
So the only sulution is pulling out the battery or keep the power button pushed and it restarts again. :3eyes:

As far as i remember this problem didn't occur with my older drivers but i'm kind of getting sick and tired of this problem and i would like to keep the 180.44 drivers because i like to game on my laptop.

I looked on google a bit and searched the guru3d forums but i couldn't find the solution to my problem.

Could anyone please help me fix this problem so i can just close my laptop and let it go into sleep mode and when i open it again i can keep on using it. :wanker:

    Thanks greetings Chirop

Your GPU driver shouldn't cause this problem.

Does your problem go away with a different driver, or why do you think it's your graphic card driver?

I have the same problem with my 3 year old Acer lappy: overy odd time she won't come out of standby. It's not a driver thing though: mine has an ATI x700 with ancient drivers because it's so old and the battery dies so fast it's no good for gaming anymore.

I found that it occurs less when I don't try and shut down a bunch of programs before going to sleep. For example, I leave the Firefox window open and then using either the Start Menu or the Acer function key and F4 (the built-in sleep shortcut) it's usually fine.

I don't know what's causing it: I figured it's just because my TravelMate 4400 is old and cheap. I don't care about it enough to wipe it and format. If you do figure it out though, be sure and post the fix here!

right click your desktop and click properties

click the screen saver tab then power then advanced

There is a drop down menu that says "When I close the lid on my portable"

Select what you want it to do.

Try changing it to something else save that setting close the lid open it and set it back to sleep

maybe it just needs to be reset?

    Sleep.

I partially located the problem now.
My laptop keyboard and touchpad can't wake my laptop.
But actaully connecting an USB mouse the problem is magicly fixed when moving the mouse.
Is there a way to allow the laptop keyboard and touchpad to wake him?
Can't really find the setting under device manager.

You not alone that's for sure, it seems like it's problem with a lot of different laptops.

Not sure how it can only affect the laptop keyboard and touch-pad but there are others reporting the same issue with 180.44

Does it have a sleep button, or does Fn+F4 work. If so can you wake it using that ?

Try hybrid sleep, or the opposite make 100% sure you have disabled hybrid sleep, both seems to work for some people. Also try hibernation if nothing else just to test and see if it works.

No fn+f4 is the sleep hotkey (works both going on/off) so that's why it works. But it's better then nothing.

Do you have XP SP3? I've only been testing it for a little while, but my problem seems to be cured. Apparently there is a known bug in SP3 that may cause Sleep or Hibernation problems but there is a hotfix:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/166760741/WindowsXP-KB952117-v2-x86-ENU.exe

I found this link on a very useful page:

Update: Well, my XP laptop is not 100% cured by this hotfix. Still seems better, but I had one hang today when trying to enter standby :/
