Hi, My laptop acer aspire one d250 was working fine untill suddenly the lcd started to flicker and boom the display turned negative with verticles line.. First i thought it was some settings but that didnt help. So i reinstalled windows but the same. Even the bios is turned to negative colours so i think its not the os but the display problem.. Also i pugged in an external monitor and that was working fine but the laptop lcd was the same.. So any one with any solution is welcome. Thanks.
It really sounds like the display has killed itself. I'm seeing some screens on ebay for about Rs 3500, not sure if it's worth it for you
Screen issue if external is OK Check the display cable from the board to the screen incase it's been knocked and come loose Not really heard of a broken (not cracked) screen inverting colours, but a loose cable could
Take the laptop apart, to at least to the point where you can see each end of the display cable that joins the board to the screen Push them firmly back into place and see if that solves it
Good luck, I used to work repairing laptops / screens / PCs etc Generally with a laptop screen problem it was one of the following: Black screen but can only just make out the display - Dead Inverter Bright screen but no display - GPU or Screen Screen not working at all, but external display working fine - Dead screen / cable Screen not working / external not working - GPU fault It is possible the screen has a fault, but sounds more likely (Because external works and screen is working inverted) that the cable is loose or faulty, (hopefully)
Its a mix of inverted and high contrast... But let me tell you pne thing. You might be knowing that in windows 7 the screen dims when logging in or logging out. As soon as i click on shut down or restart, it dims out from the desktop to the shut down screen.. it dims for just a half a sec but in that half a sec the colours are back and gone...same thing when starting up. It dims out from the welcome screen to the desktop and the colours are back on and gone on half a sec... Dont think its an os issue because i have reinstalled win 7
Because it is happening in the BIOS, you can forget about it being a Windows problem Definitely a hardware problem Either screen or display cable issue Definitely check the cable first
No idea, possibly the driver kicking in causes a different affect on the GPU, but 100% if your display is messed up in the BIOS, it is not a software / windows problem
