I've got one of the older 3.2 gig Extreme Edition Intel P4 with 2MB of L3 cache. The new P4's that just came out have 2MB of L2 cache. Is one cache better than the other? If so, can you explain?

    Thank you

well, yea, the l2 cache is more important than l3 because that's closer to the cpu. l3 cache is on the motherboard.

read this article. it talks about how the l3 cache affects p4 performance. notable quote

L3 is not on the motherboard. It's on the chip. If that were the case then all P4's would have L3 cache. Thanks for the article though.

I dont take L3 cache as an advantage.
