Why on earth do AMD cpu users have to install this update. KB4497165 - is an Intel Microcode update/fix that has to be installed because M$ will include it in a future build anyway. I'm not sure why it's been forced on AMD users.
I'm guessing because Windows has no way of knowing what CPU you are using. I don't tend to pay much attention to the KB update details anymore.
It may have also been erringly triggered for Ryzen. Besides, you never know, you may wake up one morning and suddenly have this urge to go and get an entire new mobo and cpu and want to keep the old install. It could happen. Not here, but it could. Insanity strikes sudden and quietly.
it may hurt even more because MS is "pushing" this KB4497165 update to PCs with Intel AND AMD CPUs From Askwoody web site - KB 4497165: Another Intel microcode update, another round of AMD stupidity https://www.askwoody.com/2020/kb-44...rocode-update-another-round-of-amd-stupidity/ edit - MS's WU servers are really having a problem determining whether this 4497165 microcode update should really be applied to certain PCs or not. if you don't need KB4497165 (and you're using an AMD cpu), uninstall it, reboot and hide that update with wushowhide.diagcab
