My core doesn't go too far, but I wonder if that is a heat issue. The memory is default at 800, i'd go to 1.1 or 1Ghz, it goes there fine. (it has that samsung 2ns memory). I'd wait to get a 3rd party cooler. There might be one designed for the 6600GT AGP, at least hopefully. The AGP bridge chip gets extremely hot with just that heatsink. PS, the more i look at your rig, the weirder it is, you have almost the exact same setup, down to the speakers LOL.

thats a bottleneck, but not a really bad one. FarCry demands alot of the cpu ! put a 3.2 P4 in that mobo and you world see a big diffirence tho ;)

Intelman, it freaks me out. Ill read a post and look at your specs, and think, "I don't remember posting that." Kind of cool though. Great minds think a like.

Ya, that bridge gets insanely hot. I hope that they will release the third party cooler for us. They would benefit from it greatly. if not, I'm sure you could just use some VGA ramsinks on it. Like you would your ram. Probably do as much cooling as the heatsink it has on it.

I wish we had a temp gauge. It would really, really help let me know what's going on.

lol, what is up with all these ppl saying that p4 2+ghz cpus are a bottleneck to the 6600gt? lol. even i can play farcry @1280x1024 with all settings high with no aa and af with average fps in the 30s.

there is no reason u 6600gt owners should expect that sort of poor performance in games with ur systems. at least poor performance when compared to what it was promised to be. maybe if the 6600gt wasn't advertised as the end all, be all of budget cards ppl wouldn't be so disappointed with it's performance.

they suck, they are bottlenecks. your 2.3 barton is like a regular 3.0-3.2 ghz p4.

lol, still very good cpus. they do not suck. so my cpu is about 5% faster in games. wow.

I got my leadtek today, had to put it a new PSU to get it to work though lol. Understandle. MAJOR fps jump in doom 3 over my 4200. FPS generally stays around 50-60 and above, with occasional dips (but hey doom 3 has demandin gfx). This is with 4x aa 1024x768 high quality setting. No problems really other than a weird lighting issue in doom 3 if i play on medium quality. Other than that its good. Getting used to the new speed is gonna be tough tho lololol. I reccomend it. :D

i would venture to say your cpu is alot faster than 5 % over a "2.4" pentium ! i know mine is. alot faster !

i've researched a lot into 6600gt cards since i was going to buy one. though after my research i decided to stay away from those cards. gee, i wonder why that is.

sorry, but when i see ppl blaming poor performance of a 6600gt on cpu bottlenecks i just lmao. there is no reason a 6600gt will be bottlenecked by a 2ghz p4. it's a mid-end card. not a 6800gt. btw, a 6800gt still runs good with a 2ghz p4.
