i play with everything on high and 2 times aa and bilinea filtering .. at 1280 by 1024 on my 6600GT it runs pretty good but a bit glitchy .. running 81.85 beta's which are reading as 81.84?

will get new beta drivers 81.87 and test the supposed performance increase.

I'm using 81.87 beta, have all setting on high, 4x AA and trillinear filtering and my framerate ain't that bad, I don't have fraps but I think it's about 30-50fps (pretty playable by my standard), in big battle lags a little but i think that was partly because of my intergrated sound card. Framerate lowered when i set the specular map texture on extra, lower it down to high fixed it.
Like cole2109 said, set the hunkmegs to 512 doesn't give any extra fps for me.
There was a topic where one guy said set his pagefile to 2-128 fixed his lags in battlefield, you guy should try it out espescially when you have like 2GB ram, to people who have 1GB, set your pagefile to 1024-1024.

Well I've done a LOT of testing with my AOpen 6800GT and CoD2 - guess what... the 81.87 gave me LOWER FPS than with the 81.85's - I'm back using the 85's and it's running great.

I always run my 6800GT overclocked at 410/1.12 just so you know.

If you don't have a 7800 card I think the only way to be able to play CoD2 in DirectX9 mode is to drop down to 1024x768.
1280x1024 really hammers the FPS on 6800GT cards.

I've got Shadows off, Soft edges off, dynamic lighting off and running at 2xAA and Trilinear filtering and averaging 50 FPS or above. Some maps like Moscow with all the huge building and snow it's running at about 34 FPS but it's still playable.

its running pretty smoothly for me with the 79.11 drivers(im telling you , you should try these.). in dx9 at 1024x768(yeah i know you guys like higher resolution). not using any of the tweaks yet. have all the options on but turned down a bit. the only time it got choppy was when my antivirus started a system scan. wich is to be expected of course.

my comment before was before i bought the game but now i dont really see what all the fuss is. although the comment still applies to a lot of games that are made now.

btw, have you change the level for AF? As I remember in game there is only option to set AF but not 8xAF or 16xAF. Is it possible via drivers settings in windows?

If you have it set to app pref on desktop and antistropic in game its 8x by default. I read that in tweakguides :p

Well, as much as the graphics in CoD2 look gorgeous using DirectX9 and even though most of us have got quite good FPS with it, once you get in 1v1 or more fights it's not really playable.

A thread on the IWnation forums was started and almost everyone agreed that for multiplayer you must use Directx7 to keep things smooth.

Putting /r_multigpu 1 (if you are not SLI) in your console will immediately give you a better fps - you'll actually see it change when you press enter!

I was playing multiplayer at 1024x768 using directx9 (you'll find it in the graphics options) - 1280 is impossible on our cards with dx9. I turned shadows/smoke edges off and was getting it quite smooth.

But..... whack back up to 1280x1024, turn every setting to MAX and set it to use DirectX7 it just runs fantastic, okay doesn't look as nice as dx9 but it runs sooo smooooth for multiplayer which is what you need.

DirectX7 with all the other graphics options on highest settings at 1280x1024 4xAA and Ansiotropic filtering looks almost as good as Directx9!

235 FPS I'm getting on these settings in some maps!!!

So yea, try the single player game with DX9 but definitely stick to DX7 for the multiplayer, it actually runs smoother than CoDuo with all things on highest!
