Im so disappointing in SONY's security....I just got the PS4 today and have like 5 games ready for download but PSN is down due to hackers exposing how lame sonys network really is. I will never put my CC info on any sony server...I will get a pre paid card to buy into PSN. Wow just wow a giant corporation like Sony has no real security...who are they hiring to take care of this?? little kids or ppl graduating from community colleges with an associates degree???
DoS attack dont care about how secure a server is anyone can get hit by it... your rant about there secure has nothing to do with what is happen. want to blame someone blame the people doing the dos attack. for nothing more publicity and to piss people off.
Theres no such thing as a a perfect security system. Doesnt matter who much money you have or how big you perceive Sonys existence to mean. All it takes is for one weak spot and from there is just a domino effect within a matter of time. I dont know why you're blaming sony for the crimes of others. Should we blame every police officer for not stopping every crime ever committed. Theres only so much you can do.
and 2nd you should not have your CC info on anyone server or any online shopping site. And if you DO you should remove it the second you know the payment went threw.
so any network can be ddosed because security, no matter how great they are, will still happen just because a ddos is possible?? makes no sense...networks can be setup in layers. and according to your uneducated reply, there is nothing any network can do vs a DDoS!!!??
you dont know what denial of service is attack is... flood any server with enough packets and it will crumble which exactly what denial of service attack is....
Research what a DDoS is then come back and join the conversation. Here I will help you... http://www.cert.org/historical/tech_tips/denial_of_service.cfm?
As others have already mentioned, it is currently impossible to stop this type of attack. You could spend billions trying to prevent it but in the end this type of attack will bring servers down over a sustained amount of time.
No server is immune to A DDoS, period. Regardless of how much security it may or may not have, if you flood it with enough data, it's going tits up.
Best way to think of DDOS is think of it like cars on highway. Server only have so many lanes available for traffic, they could have 20,000 lanes available, but if DDOS comes along an dumps 100,000 lanes worth of cars on it, guess what happens? everything grinds to a halt. Sure government could add more lanes to prevent traffic jams? however theirs not infinite amount of space available, same with Sony servers sure they could add more capacity but would it actually help?
Thats a sad situation....this is going to happen alot im afraid. Sorry if I was hostile fellas, I was pissed about this.
This thread was amusing. DDOS attacks can't be stopped by anyone. Fastest fix is to change your public IP address, but that won't prevent them (hackers) from just locating that new IP and doing it again. I have a feeling this is what Sony did in the past thinking it was enough but then the attacks reoccurred. Really can't just be mad at Sony, Xbox Live had the same problem, MS was just quicker to fix it. But it's not JUST Sony, Xbox One/360 were also offline. Showing that DDOS attacks cannot be prevented by any company. It will be interesting to see what this hacker group does to tor. They claim that is their next target.
