The title was just changed to add xfire to the thread title, originally just said sli and the anti nvidia bs went out of hand. The original post always stated sli and xfire though. Crap like gameworks title and no sli when multi gpu implementation has nothing to do with extra effects.

Does there seriously have to be a conspiracy for every problem out there? Unless you have any even remotely useful information, next time keep your conspiracy theories in your head, where they came from.

Well, maybe I overreacted calling this a conspiracy thing, but seriously tell me, how many multi gpu users are happy lately, as I see you use single gpu, so I don't think you have a realistic example for what am I asking you right now.

Next year I am gonna buy new gen top single gpu because I am tired of this situation. And the winners are Nvidia and AMD because I could have the same or better performance with 2 gpus versus 1, for the same price. (example 970 sli > 980ti/Titan X (OR) 390 Cf > Fury X) It's Hell out there.

No He is not right because this is caused by the developer and not the GPU manufactures.
You have no idea what you are talking about. This is the developers fault and not AMD nor Nvidia.

Why do people quote posts from several pages back? It's either been answered by now or it's been ignored as a troll post.

It's not caused by the GPU manufacturers but i do think that Nvidia and AMD need to take a step back from games that don't meet certain minimum requirements on the PC.

Saying that, as far as i can see this isn't even a PC Gameworks game, so unsure why that is being brought up again.

What it comes down to is just the smaller PC market, some people might go on about pre-orders but there obviously aren't enough pre-orders on the PC if the devs changed the engine knowing it would cause issues with multi-gpu on the PC version.

I made peace with the fact PC games will play second fiddle to consoles years ago, but as long as i'm getting a better version of the game for less money i'm happy enough.

So let me get this straight. NV rep pretty much says we'd love to add SLi support, but we can't. And the reaction is still NVidia's fault.

Multi-GPU setups have always been a pain. I agree that it's bullcrap that some games work and some don't, some scale well and others do not, some stutter and some don't. This is why getting two cheap GPU's instead of one powerful one has always been against conventional wisdom. Sure they have gotten better, and AMD/NV do their damnest to provide support, but the reliance on driver updates is a huge annoyance in of itself. And in the end, you are still at the mercy of the game dev's. Nothing new here, this has been the case for SLi and crossfire users since it's inception.

I'd also like to add that GameWorks is totally irrelevant. Like all middleware, it was implemented by the game dev, if it is GameWorks causing the issue (which is still doubtful) then it's still the game dev's fault. When other games don't support SLi out the gate we don't blame SpeedTree do we?

"Game developers seem to have lost sight of major parts of their core mission as game makers. Making the games playable and fun."

Except for these big titles where developers dont have anything to say about these things. They just work there and execute managers and investors plans.

But lol multi-GPU... When do people learn. There has been problems with multi-GPU setups from the beginning and this is nothing new. 1-2 years back was probably their golden age but the big picture from the past 10 years has been... issues.

I use to use SLI, i stopped using SLI, why? because it's always been buggy. It's gotten better, but it'll always BE buggy (except maybe DX12 might clear some stuff up?). That's the nature of the beast. The majority of gamers do not use multi-GPU systems, so really there's not a huge reason for game developers to put much effort into it. There's MORE reason for Nvidia or AMD to force developers to support multi-GPU solutions because in the end that's what gets nvidia/AMD their MONEY. Multi-GPU systems are 100% likely to ALWAYS be buggier/less predictable then single-GPU systems until consoles have multiple GPUs as currently all games are made with one GPU in mind, not two, not three, not four, one. Multi-GPU support is an afterthought when developing a game for the PC.

Tell me, if your conspiracy theory had any grounds at all, why exactly does AMD/Nvidia offer multi-GPU setups? Or, for that matter, why not allow only the top-end graphics cards to SLI/Crossfire that way if you want two GPUs you'll have to get two top-end GPUs and you can't "circumvent" the system by getting two lower-end GPUs that get better performance then a higher end GPU for less?

All you have is a conspiracy THEORY that has no grounds.

I too am hoping that once dx12 is around, and games are programmed to get deeper access to hardware, they will see how much potential CFX / SLI has to offer. At least that's part of the hopes I have for dx12.

SLI/CF is likely to suffer even more under DX12 if devs create engine(s) without support, at least DX11 let's AMD/Nvidia have more power to create workarounds for game issues.

SLI has always been a gamble, and though I have been pleasantly surprised with it so far, that's two big name games in the last few months with what appears to be no support at all.

    Pretty much this.

I mean I'm not supporting gameworks because it doesn't really run killer on the competitors' hardware, but gameworks is sabotaging Nvidia performance too in many cases.

I simply cannot possibly think that Nvidia sabotaged their own cards on purpose. I am fairly convinced that if game devs would get off their asses they could actually make gameworks work (ha) properly.

I mean where it stands currently it's like I would blame microsoft because I can't know how to code graphics with DX. It's stupid.

I would guess heat, size, and production yields from the initial launch.

The 360 had I think 3 dye shrinks? Not much of a difference in size.

PS3 has a number of dye shrinks too, and the system did shrink!

Now what would have been cool to see in consoles, an APU like system plus a dedicated gpu that the 2 work together with.

That would probably be very beneficial to SLI/CFX users but I do not believe it can happen in the current PS4/XBone configuration. That CPU seems severely underpowered.

As the consoles stick to apus (and the next consoles will do so too), I'm sceptical about the sli support improving because of the consoles. AMD is trying to push it's hsa stuff via the consoles, they would work against heir own selling argument if they used a dedicated gpu too.

Exactly, they would have to do it smart if they were ever going to do it.

Jaguar gets some decent performance, but yes a crossfire setup would be too much for it indeed.

A solution to that, higher clocks, more cache, more power, more money. Not a valuable option though...:)

Why would they ever add crossfire or SLI to a console when they can just make the chip bigger? It's not like current console GPUs are size or performance restricted. If they want more performance just double the number of shaders.

All multi - GPU does is increase programming complexity, increase heat/cost with duplication of parts, increased chance of failure, increased cooling design cost and space. And it doesn't provide a benefit when there currently is no price, performance or size limitation.

The consoles now use SoC's and you guys are wondering why they don't use multi-GPU setups? That's like asking a used bicycle rider why he's not on a Harley.
Simply having one mid-tier dedicated GPU would be a huge upgrade.

So much for the cross platform multi GPU tech that's meant to be a big selling point for DX12/Vulcan and Win 10.

I know it's still early days but what happened to all this future talk of having say a nvidia gtx980 in one PCIe slot, an AMD 380 in another PCIe slot and even an Integrated Iris (HD 530) Graphics GPU all working together?

I know this is DX12 based on future games but you'd think game devs would be all over the multi GPU support thing like a rash on a babies arse. Especially since 4K is being pushed so hard also.
