    Welcome to the madhouse. :D

    Don't worry, some people didn't believe I was running my 955 at 4.1Ghz / 1.36v.
    I didn't provide screenshots I just said:

    Yes

Thank you, thats the cpu I had before this one but I only had mine at 3.8Ghz

Edit: I made a boo boo as that last test was with an older version if you look at the pic :bang: thw temps seem to be higher in the older version compared to the new version which is what I was running last night.... not sure how I have 2 versions though..... but if people want to use that as an excuse I don't care as I know its stable with low temps/volts

Post it up in the thread, you claimed 12 inches. Have a ruler handy, or maybe it was 12cm? J/k

I post this a few days ago in another theard
my 3570k on supermegaprolima and a 250 cfm fan, this is in just 3d06 no real stress like prime ibt or occt.
i did need the voltage to be stable for more then one run
this x3 cpu test then 1 full run
    65f ambient temps
    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/88/ivyairx506.jpg/
1080p sized ss so here is a link believe me 1.40v is too hot for even more then a bench or two 85c area 4.9ish
my sb 2600k will run 5.4(ht off) with less then 78c with@1.53ish all day long.
but i will be just saying not showing on that one for the moment.

    ok then i try my 3930k with a h100 stock fans same air temps 1c 2c +-
x3 cpu test and a vantage run to boot on 6c/12t
something just aint right about ivy temps when pushed.

Funny I can almost beat that 06 CPU score with a 2500k :p

People need to stop posting this stuff just to justify to themselves "Oh, my Sandybridge is better, etc"

Yes, we all know that SB > IB in terms of overall OC potential due to heat problems. We also know that IB clock for clock performs better than SB.

If you have a SB, yeah, it's not an upgrade to go to IB, but if you had a 1st gen iCore, or Core2Duo or Core2Quad, IB is a great upgrade.

I can get close to that on my 2500k too
It does take 5.65 @1.55v and xp os to do it ...but i only run that chip on dri-ice

I agree. I'm running 4.6ghz on my 3570k. And yes, it's prime stable. And yes, it does get toasty while running Prime. But I use my rig for gaming, not running Prime all day.

At 4.6ghz, while gaming, temps hit mid 60's...and I'm totally ok with that.

    That's a 1.2ghz oc too...and that's not terrible.

I think the real issue is that people are a little peeved by the fact that if Intel didn't cheap out they could potentially hit higher OC's at lower temps. Also it seems Intel saves a few cents a CPU by using the crappest TIM they could find, instead of a significantly better one. What will happen if the TIM deteriorates over time (like the cheap ones do), slowly becoming an insulator rather than a poor conductor...

I agree on the TIM. It does suck. But it's just us enthusiast that are a little chapped by it. The general populace gets the improved video capabilities.

    It's a "tick" for sure.
