I've been considering buying a NVMe SSD for quite a while now (I still have a classic HDD as my secondary disk), but the prices are quite high. Especially when you decide you want either of the 960 series Samsung. Supposedly the next gen will come out some time early next year, so I am not sure what to do. Grab a 960 now, or wait for 970/980? What would you do?
Hi, I went from a 960 evo 250gb to a 960pro 512gb, I paid £245 for my Samsung 960 pro 512 gb 6 months ago and ive seen them as low as £275 on ebay but the evo prices seem a bit better on ebay, tbh if its your first you`d be just as happy with the performance of the evo, and from what ive read the new ones if/when the get released in January wont be a great deal faster http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/samsung-pm981-980-nvme-ssd,news-57043.html My advice...if your on z170 board or lower just go with an evo 960, my 960 pro performance was around 3200mbs seq read and 1800mbs seq write before i put my os on it but that soon changes when you put data on it, im using 429 gb out of the total 477 and read/write are down to 1950/1650, i use it for my os and a couple of games that i use the most.
I am actually still on Z77. I can also get 960 1TB Pro for rougly €330, which is a price that probably cannot be beaten. So, I don't know.
Do you have a link of the product cause I am on the search for a 1TB ssd for my games and I must admit that the price you posted is unbeatable
New or second hand, thats great for a new pro but if its not new i`d be cautious . http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=3319&title=z77-extreme-4-nvme-pcie-ssd-booting
