Your pets are in some serious danger if that's a panther. If it's a bobcat then probably not (it's rare for bobcats to kill domestic cats, but still not unheard of.) Panthers eat bobcats for breakfast, btw. If it's smaller than them and moves, a panther will probably see it as food.
My cats are cool. I've also got packs of wild coyotes that run around at night. There's a reason I named my cats Max Payne and Mona Sax, they've got bullet time reflexes.
I believe most if not all felines are interfertile, limited only by size mechanics. I once had a 19 pound (1.4 stone, 8.6 kg) Maine Coon baby girl whose father was about 40 pounds. The local high school sports teams are the "cougars" and I hope never to run into one. What's neat is that Maine Coons have ear tufts like a lynx.
