So hard to wrap my head around belonging to this site since 03. Just want to say a big thank you to @Hilbert Hagedoorn for this site. I've been able to learn so much from here and just want to say I really appreciated it.
... and for not selling up, its great as it is! HardOCP lost all its front page content, many contributors and ways of presenting information when Kyle sold it to move to Intel. He wasnt with them about a year later, something went wrong. Seems a waste.
For me this is the most important aspect of Guru3d. When i see what happened to Anandtech, Tom´s Hardware and others after they were bought by a third party, i really, but really, appreciate and give thanks to the heavens that Hilbert is still independent and going strong. Hope it stays this way forever! And winning a GPU in the christmas contest would also be cool.
I was a lurker on here from around 2004 and finally signed up in 2008. This is one of only a small select few sites I've ever donated too and one of an even smaller number of sites that leave my adblock disabled for.
Yes, it's amazing that such a legendary site and forum is still running under the same ownership after so many years. It really isn't a common thing and I too am happy to be part of it. Even though I only registered in 2005, I used to visit this site regularly and lurk on the forums several years before that, basically ever since I got into building my own PCs around 2000.
That reminds me of not looking at my older post, makes me feel stupid and uncomfortable. But also means that I grew up and learned, accumulated more knowledge and shared it. And all of that thanks to the awesome community and the big boss chef Hilbert. Here is to many, many more! Cheers!
2002/2003 for me. Had an old account. Left for a few years, forgot username, made new account. I was here for FX 5800 Ultra era. Good times. I even owned one. Ugh. Good times. Bad card, but good times.
I hung around from 2005 but signed up in 2007, doesn't feel that long really... I had an FX 5200... Truly dreadful card, got replaced with an ATi X800 XL, fantastic card.
I've been following the site since the early 2000's. I don't remember the exact year. But I only registered on the forum in 2013. Only more recently did I get more active on the forum. It has been a good experience. Lots of nice people around here.
Been around guru 3d since 2000. Started as a lurker. I was knocking between this and another video card website that got into the nitty gritty of the hows and whys video cards are fantastic, which I was highly intrigued by. Actually was leaning toward the other website, (wish I could recall the name), but they ran afoul of a website sin, caught in untruths, eventually faded away. After a wait and see if this one was gonna stick around, I finally joined in Jan 2005. Have not looked back since. Hats off to all the staff that’s makes this wonderful site happen day in and day out. :>)
