I just did the free 3d mark vantage test. Im too cheap to buy a real version even though its like 15 bucks or whatever. I got 10265 on my Q6600 @ 3.0ghz and I got 6207 on my 9800gtx+. Is this an okay score for my pc? If it isnt... what can I do to get it up more?

it's not low. it's actually pretty good. why don't you compare it to all of our scores ^^^^ They are posted right above you in the Guru3D 3DMark Vantage thread.

Closing Anti-Virus software also helps to improve the score. You should try that if you want to get some extra points!

If you want to see an OC make a big difference, run 3dmark06. Vantage isn't effected quite as much by OC.

3DMark06 is very CPU dependent...so CPU overclocks are more obvious...but they're also a bit misleading because of it being so CPU dependent.

Bah!!! Artificial benchmarks are still artificial.

umm... how is that artificial if it is used even on guru3d... I dont think they would use something that just fakes up a number for you...

actually....it's common to use artificial benchmarks for 3D performance in reviews. Whetstone and Dhrystone are poor tests for judging 3D Performance, especially when comparing GPU's....they're CPU benchmarks.

Well I think you score is fine, if not higher then fine, specially because of the low clocks on the CPU

Actually, the op's score is perfectly fine....I get just below 7k on Vantage with the same processor. I just don't get physx to artificially inflate my score by making a CPU bench run on my gpu instead of my cpu.
