ey is a 9600PRO enough to play gtasa on pc???? like i dunno smooth framerate like 100fps (i get 100-200 fps in vice city with everything on high 1024-768)at medium-high 1024x768??
Thanks I've decided to go with the PNY 6600 GT based on the positive feedback its getting to replace my dead 9600 PRO and I'll be picking it up later today. Its within my budget (250$) and has dual DVI. I plan on using it with my 30" LCD monitor 1280x768 @ 60Hz, I hope I can get a decent framerate at that resolution with my current system. If not I'll be upgrading more very soon. Thanks for the prompt and detailed responses!
alright, your decision but in the past that card has needed a really good system to perform well and I dont know if yours is up to the task, but please let us know and post some bench scores, Iam really intrested if it does good
Benchmark Results I've purchased the PNY 6600GT, installed in my system and I ran the following benchmarks: Final Fantasy XI Offical Benchmark 2: High = 3498 Final Fantasy XI Offical Benchmark 3: High = 2626 3DMark 2001 SE: 9974 3DMark 2003 : 6663 Aquamark 3: 32,913 | GFX= 5,286 | CPU= 4,363 I don't know if these scores are good or bad, please let me know if I really need the 6800 GT instead of a 6600 GT or if I should upgrade something else to take advantage of the 6600 GT.
They look about right for your system - i have a PNY 6600GT and a slightly quicker system than you and my benches are a bit higher, but that will probably be the faster CPU (plus overclocked RAM and GFX card)
Yeah that seems about right. If you wanted more power from graphics card, you would need a faster cpu as these days the gpu's are limited by the cpu power. I say your athlon XP 2000+ isn't using your 6600gt to its fullest, even my athlon64 3000+ doesn't seem to be either lol my friend is running a p4 3.6ghz and the 6600gt seems to run even faster on his comp then mine, so a cpu upgrade would be good for ur 6600gt.
strange... i have just tried vc @ 1280x960 16xAA and 16xAF and I get avg. 50fps... which is playable i think.
