Just loaded quake 4 and started playing some on-line shoot-abouts... Now, with Quake 3 Arena I used to play using g_fov = 100 (or was it cg_fov in q3a?) and it feels just a tad better setting my FOV to 100 when playing with sabot dudes on a self-created server. Is it considered cheating should I play like that competitively? Also, what are you guys and gals favorite value for the Field of Vision (FOV) setting?
No it's not cheating I play Q4 1v1 too And I use g_fov 100 too Look at all the pro's, they all use a higher fov, and it's not considered as cheating
well just look at his Av, is that a face you can trust? and dont forget hes dutch, and you know what they say about the dutch right? j/k on topic, i suspect im playing at a higher FoV too, since i run widescreen, and IIRC this fov tweaking has been around since the Q2 days, if the community considered it cheating, i doubt Raven would still have put it in Q4 as an accesible option
Excessively high FOV's make aiming much easier in my experience.... that is why was wondering... On the dutch... I have family that emigrated to Brussels and as a Afrikaans speaking individual I can follow most dutch dialects with some concentrating! I thought the dutch (in belgium anyway, was only in Amsterdam a few hours so cannot really vouch for the Netherlands) were quite cool so I think they can be trusted!
