For an i7 3770k 4.2ghz, saphire dualx 7970, gigabyte wf 7970 oc, msi g45 mobo, 8gb ddr3 2133mhz, cM hyper 212 evo, 1 tb hdd and 1 dvd rw. My psu is a corsair cx 750. Whats the amperage requirements for cf 7970? Should I upgrade the psu? I havent had any issues yet.

I think you should, check this out:

    7970 250W
    7970 250W
    3770K 77W
    board, hdd, sdd, fans...50W
At stock on full load you need 627W,if you are not pushing the cpu at 100% of usage, zero overcloking(cpu and gpus), then you are probably fine at least for now if the psu is not old, remember, a good PSU like that can push probably around 800 peak.

If you are going to overclock then get a 1000/1200W.

Yeah it has a peak wattage of 825 watt, Im not overclocking the gpus for now, but the cpu is slightly oced, 4.2 GHZ. Is 1000 watt really necessary? Those psu's cost alot.

If you dont push your system hard (ie dont overclock, run it stock speed/volts), it should be ok for now, assuming your PSU isnt old and worn.

An 850 to 900W PSU is about right.
More is ok, but I wouldnt go less than a very good quality, well reviewed 850W.

^ I agree, 850W sounds good. 1000W is excessive but 1200W is just ludicrous.

    PSU's are tested at 10, 20, 50 and 100% load.

They have to be at least 80% efficient in every test to obtain 80+.

What's the amperage on that cx750?

Edit : I see it's 62A. That's not bad. I say it should be enough with the cpu overclocked and gpus at stock or mild overclock.

This one seems to be the most updated one. One where I could not chose a Haswell CPU and one of them didn't have any GTX590 in the list of GPUs. Saw that I really need to get newer GPU, if not for anything else then to lower the power usage. Even a 690 uses much less than my old trusty 590.

Just so you can have an idea of total system consumption with overclocked crossfire 7970's and an overclocked FX-8350. The efficiency of my PSU is 85% I believe so my system is actually drawing less from the PSU then the values shown since the values are from the wall.

    7970's at 1100mhz/1.2V
    8350 at 4.8ghz/1.488

To the OP, as you can see by Hubbles images your PSU should be fine, i wouldn't be in a hurry to upgrade it. I've been arguing this point with people for years that think a massive PSU is the solution to all their problems..The 7970 and newer Intel Cpu's are better on energy consumption then even i thought.
