This question will not be important to most people. Q1:I would like to know if any AMD GPU or the new release on Dec 13 2022 for the 7900XTX has the ability with AMD recording software only for High Dynamic Range (HDR) with HDR metadata in the codec or container. Q2:What is the actual software name to record HDR Content for PC Gaming Not interested in 3rd party software such as(Open Broadcaster Software) for HDR recording or streaming. Not interested in using HDR authoring tools (DaVinci Resolve,Adobe Premiere Pro,Adobe After Effects,Final Cut Pro X) for HDR recording and manually adding HDR metadata in the codec or container.
Never thought about HDR video capture. Just tried on my RX 6600XT and nope. From what I can tell ReLive doesn't support HDR capture to video. That didn't surprise me though. As I encountered this HDR oddity when taking screen shots (also not supported). What I didn't expect was my workaround to not support HDR video capture. That being Windows Gamebar, which does support HDR screen capture, but not for video. The answer is the one you already don't want to hear... OBS :\. I also can't see anything to suggest the new series of cards will have this unfortunately. *edit* Also see you asked on the AMD forums. Will be interesting to see if you get an answer.
I used OBS but I got my new OLED so have the same question. I think it depends on the GPU drivers, not the screen.
Thanks for the replies. Windows has done HDR for a long time but only 1080p.It is a sad day, still holding out hope in the next few hours that AMD with two encoders on the new 7900XTX will throw PC Gamers a bone with HDR Recording support.
there are aftermarket solutions (not Handbrake) i would recommend FastFlix otherwise get your command line skills dusted off
Yeah I am good ,I would not have any problems with adding metadata or even buying a capture card. I was just looking for AMD solution. Well I made up my mind just bought another MSI RTX 4090 SUPRIM LIQUID X,I will look at AMD next round. It is what it is.
I am a AMD fan and I already owned some RTX 4090 cards. I really wanted 7900xtx ,I was committed selling my RTX 4090 cards and then it dawned on me,I have not seen AMD doing HDR content. So I tried to find a real answer and could not, then I was asking questing and got some dum dum Nvidia responses and next to nothing on the AMD forums. It is silly I have no problem dropping 3K in Canada on a GPU but I will not buy something at the dollar store that is the same price at the regular store OH and what else is silly I did not buy 3 7900xtx today because of the HDR thing. Which I could find a workaround no problem,it is just PC gear ,I have no company I stand for because every company would steal from your grave.
The work around is to use OBS. Which is standard software to use if your doing capturing regularly... but I get it.
Well OBS Studio 28.0 Release Candidate Aug 03 2022 - Just a few short months ago I was actually testing out the HDR bit,not the best at that time. Also I think when I watched the 7900xtx release they mentioned working with OBS on something. HDR and 10-bit color support (Windows, macOS/Linux support limited)
