IP change?

How can i change my ip address? if i go from a dsl provider to a cable provider will i have a new ip address?

Start > Run and type "cmd"

in the dos-box, type "ipconfig /all" to see you ip address and all other info

"ipconfig /release" will release your ip-address
"ipconfig /renew" will ask a new address

It's possible you'll get the same address again when doing this. But that's because of your ISP (like caching of MAC-address)

Internet providers "lease" you an IP when you connect to them, one way you can see if you could get a new address is to unplug your modem/router (from the power outlett)... Wait 5 minutes and plug it back in. That should refresh your IP. When you change to a different ISP you will get a different IP.
