Patch 1.02 is out fixing, among many other things, frame pacing issues. Haven't gotten to trying it out myself yet but heads up.
Also adds achievements. The game has been tracking all achievements, now that the achievements are live... next time you start the game, any you've unlocked will automatically unlock on Steam.
Ever since 1.02 the game constantly crashes when I want to change the graphics settings (at least the GOG version). The gameplay seems to be smoother, however, so the "fixes to framepacing" seems to be real.
So, came home from work today... and there was a lovely box waiting for me. And, to give you an idea of size. The Big Box I got for John Romero's Si6il is the same size as the 90s boxes. Boxes like Hexen, Quake...
Yeah, the figure is really awesome. The whole box is awesome... I got number 181/500 Though, I was kind of wanting number 500.
Well, now that they got the boxes out of the way, maybe they can fix the video settings crashes that patch 1.02 introduced.
SO.... At PAX South, in San Antonio TX, (Jan 17th - 19th) 3DRealms will be revealing TWO new FPS games. The first, is a retro style throw back on early Quake engine tech, featuring lite RPG mechanics and being developed in partnership with Chris Taylor (Fallout 1). The second title is on Unreal Engine 4. And that's the extent of it's public info. I already have been shown both, and I'm very excited. I will also be attending PAX South with 3DR, so... again, very excited. AND... finally... due to their work/efforts with Ion Fury and the upcoming Wrath, 3DR have been nominated for an award at the Danish Game Awards. I heard about the Quake engine game and am really excited about that one. UE4 one as well, although this is the first I've heard of that one. As for the voting.. that's going to be a tough one between IO and 3D realms. Hitman 2 is amazing. So is Ion Fury.
I thought that the Quake engine game was Wrath (running on Darkplaces, iirc), but I won't say no to another (depending on the quality)!
Yes, Wrath is using the Quake engine. But, they are going to announce another project running on early idTech.
Very nice! Though 3D Realms + UE4 is practically herecy, lols. Does Wrath have a release date atm by the way?
I don't think so. I thought that they were going to release a "sample" this year, but that may have been changed.
No release date at the moment. But Killpixel recently told me development is moving forward very nicely, and they'll have an announcement soon.
That's good to hear! I would like a dark-themed, Quake engine game. After playing through Arcane Dimensions, I believe some visual marvels can be done with the engine!
Is Arcane Dimensions a total conversion mod or something? Been meaning to check it out. As well as Quake 1.5.
It's a mission/map pack with it's own hub world. The maps are really great, one of the best on the engine. The weapons also got an overhaul - now all of them fire projectiles, and so do the enemies.
