In it's latest product notification Intel is renaming the Pentium G series of processors from the current Kaby lake generation towards Pentium Gold. ... Intel to Rebrand Kaby-Lake Pentiums towards Pentium Gold
But but but i want Pentium Platinum Jesus Intel with every new day looks more and more like kindergarten instead company with grown ups
I'm not sure I understand the marketing behind this. It's inconsistent compared to the rest of their product lineup, and I feel like in some cases it could make a Pentium Gold seem like a fancier product than an i5. Also, it's a bit of an oxymoron. Gold represents rarity and value, but this product is a commodity and one of the cheapest in Intel's lineup. Meanwhile, if the 18-core i9 was called something along the lines of "Core i9 7980X Gold" I'd have thought that was a good product name.
Intel marketing thought things were getting too clear, and had to have a new name for everything. Pentium Gold = Proper CPU, Pentium Silver = Atom SoC. Makes you want to buy Intel, doesn't it..................
this brand already exist... it's "PENTIUM" but now they add extra segmentation... with 1 or 2 unit in each of those, i don't know what they will do??? will a Celeron gold be as powerfull as a Pentium rusted metal??? who is the more powerfull Rhino or Elephant??? ketchup or mayonnaise??? ... so much awnserless question lol
If gaming in 2017 has taught me anything, I expect these gold CPU's to require micro-transactions where you buy "platinum" from Intel to unlock extra cores and features. It's sooo obvious guys, this makes TOTAL sense.
