I was considering one for my evga step up, they have 3070ti starting from 600 euros, and 3080ti for 1400 euros lol. (3080 900 euros) i went for nice 3070ti at 800 euros.

Well, this gives me some time to save for a new GPU...

Now, if only Sony would release a PS5 slim, then i wouldn´t have any worries for the near future.

Usually I think negatively but maybe it was good that mining put a dent in gaming GPU's because this was the only chance for INTEL has to succeed with open arms. INTEL really can't fail this time around.

If the new intel cards are good at mining that would be a massive fail.
    LOL

Looks like my 2080 Super is here for the long haul! That's okay cause I'm enjoying everything I play with it.

I knew I made a good call getting my card when I did, even though the cost was insane (MSRP), but I never imagined it'd be an utter and completely unmitigated clown fiesta's dumpster fire a year later. There's still no return of backorders for my local shops and a backorder is how I got mine (6 week wait) to begin with.

I still don't even see XBSX or PS5 consoles in stores either. Just $90-$95 controllers.

This is actually an interesting idea...
How does the step up work if they are "out of stock" of whatever card you're looking at? I wonder if they have a few set aside to handle step ups.

I've wondered this too, I suspect there is a separate step-up queue that you'll have to wait in but I'm not sure.

If I'm bored tonight, I'll reach out and ask. I think my 1070ti sells for a stupid high amount so if I could end up with a 3070 for $300 on top of that, I'd be in.

So, say I went and bought an evga 2060 from amazon for $650 right now. I could go, ask for the step up to a 3070 (or something similar). You're telling me all of that $650 goes towards the card? And, back order I assume that means you're basically on a wait list. Any idea what the wait time is?

Only reason I'm asking you is because it sounded like you've tried this with some success. Not expecting you to have an omniscient sense of EVGA and how they work :)

That's exactly how it works, there's 4 stages to it, i'm just at stage 1, you wait till card is available, st.2 you pay the remaining, st3 send in card, st4 new card is sent to you.
i done step up years ago and it took around a week or two till i was offered the window to pay the remainder (was a 1 or 2 week window i had)
i just started a step up beginning of the week so i dunno when i'll hear about st2, hoping within a fortnight, if not maybe i cancel and do another to 3080ti or just wait it out, step-up has a 90 day lifespan from day you purchase that 2060 or whatever.

Sry for double but to add, i was happy with finding cards like the 2080 super on ebay a few months back however prices have gone up it's unbelievable nowadays.
Only option right now is the waiting game, at least with evga you get a card to use while waiting.
