Desktop maybe but in laptops Intel still leader and it looks like Tigerlake is going to push that lead further.

Relative to AMD, Intel seems to have control over high-end laptops, business laptops, and netbooks/Chromebooks. But AMD seems to be really surging ahead with mainstream laptops, and I can't say I'm surprised. They've overall got a better product in that segment.
As for Tiger Lake, I'm not sure when Zen2-based laptop CPUs will be released but I imagine neither of them is going to be obviously better than the other. They're probably going to perform very similarly at the same wattage. The only difference will really come down to the GPU, at which point I personally would rather go Intel (unlike a lot of people around here, I actually like Intel GPUs).

What's really funny is that intel could drop desktop CPU's from their offerings and still be more profitable and larger than AMD, by a factor of about 75

How's that possible if Intel currently has 10x the revenue, 10x the workworce, and 20x the profits? Missed your linear equation classes?

If Intel drops their desktop CPUs, it will soon lose mobile and server market, as well as HPC accelerators and supercomputers.
