Intel has given some of its Ivy Bridge processors a price cut even though the chips aren't even launched yet. With Intel having had a hard time making up its mind with regards to when to actually launch...

$5-$8 off counts as a price cut now? The manufacturers might save a bit from this but the retail price won't change at all for us.

Like our economy teacher once said:" If the company that makes advils change the cap to better suit people with arthritis, they can slap on a «new and improved» sigil, but it doesn't necessarily mean it really IS new and improved not does it?", right h0d? ;)

Well from what i've heard it's compatible, only you won't have the new features.

hmm thanks.. I will look into those features. I just hope the new chipset and my p67 wont have much difference so I can pick up a new ivy :D like p35 - p45 chipset. they were similar in many ways except fsb overclocking.

I can be compatible but your motherboard manufacturers will need to release a compatible BIOS for it first. Native USB 3.0 and PCIE Gen 3 obviously will not work.

I haven't found any game where I'm cpu bottlenecked as I play with vsync on at 1080p with one GPU.

I can't imagine anything else coming out that would justify the use of a new CPU game wise unless you are running SLI and need the extra juice.

I'll probably get a new CPU when haswell rolls out and DDR4 comes in.
