If this is true then definitely they had some agreement of exchange of technology information too to help the blue teams upcoming GPU.

That would seem kind of odd, Intel already has Raja Koduri, who left AMD to join Intel to help make GPU.

There needs to be a cap set on yearly fabrication capacity orders that prevents apple starving the semiconductor industry.

Well, if this isn't one, I don't know. Floods, water shortages, massive shipping lane issues etc etc. Shall we wait until a meteor hits the earth and kills 90% of the population, demand would have decreased significantly though. lol

So what are the odds that fabrication plant not affected by meteor strike and me and you surviving to get the hardware :)

Well let's define `emergency` because i can't imagine an emergency more than this with nvidia cards.

I can imagine this i just a talk and intel really dont care and probably wont making nvidia gpus. As a great war starts every company for itself.

A logical move, good for both parties.

But i can´t see Jensen Huang going along with this unless the situation is really a desperate one...

the odd thing about this is two of the most capitalized companies in the world acting in fear.

Nvidia is in direct competition with Intel for their most lucrative sector - datacenters.
armed with ARM, Nvidia has been talking about their new uArch and combining its acceleration modules (gpus) with them for a new economy of scale.
Intel which is a larger fab than Samsung, has spent more money on next gen fabs than the entire market capitalization of AMD.

are they really going to force the hand of Apple (largest of them all) to include AMD gpu technologies? TSMC is like the honey badger, they just don't care who the orders are from as long as there is cash (or stock) on the barrel head.

furthermore, the Biden administration has cash waiting for anyone who wants to fill out the fabrication pipeline. a fact which Intel is in the prime position to take advantage of. of course TSMC and Samsung have their hats out too for help in building 3nm fabs in the US, but you know darn well an American company would get the lion's share.

If Nvidia cared that much about allegiances, they wouldn't have gone with Samsung and then expressed dissatisfaction with Samsung's 8nm yields.
AMD and Apple aren't getting special treatment from TSMC, they both have a point to prove and they both know they're not going to win if they don't get aggressive with contracts.

In either case, it's good Nvidia hasn't gone with TSMC or else this shortage we're in would have been much worse. I am surprised they actually bothered to come to Intel though.

Apple receives special treatment from TSMC because they are a very unique and very special customer and it pains me to say it but they deserve that special treatment.

Regarding AMD, i have no idea.

What are you defining as "special treatment"? Because if they're getting extra privileges, they must have paid for it.

Yes they paid for it. Firstly by placing their huge orders that pretty much guarantees a very big chunk of TSMC´s production and the correspondent revenue, lowering the risk of the TSMC greatly because they know they are going to sell those chips and they know Apple is going to pay them, something crucial because foundries are extremely expensive in every way possible.

Secondly, Apple also helped funding TSMC´s better nodes because they wanted/needed them for their hardware. This is only possible because Apple has so much money they can exert this type of influence over a company like TSMC.

Believe it or not, but the reason TSMC is doing so well right now is thanks to Apple´s money during the last 5 years.

And because of this "help", Apple gets priority over others and they also have the right to deserve the quantity of wafers they want, contrarily to others who have to fight each other over foundry capacity.

For example, Apple is normally one of the first companies, if not the first, to debut TSMC´s newer and better nodes. I think this is also going to be the case for the next node.

So, in a certain way, we should "thank" Apple for this... Yea, i know, i know, it feels bad to say "thanks" to an huge company like Apple, it also pains me...

This is the second news piece in a short time that details a leak originating from youtuber Tom of Moore's Law Is Dead without actually mentioning the channel (the other one being the Intel Raptor Lake piece). True that sources indicated are websites and articles that refer to MLID, but it would be nice to have credit given when due to the actual source of the info.

Last time Intel and NVidia had agreement both side ransack their "friend" technology and it finish in many sue for more than a decade...
The good news: both side already know some secret of fabrication from each other... lol
