DDR5 isn't ready yet. And according to JEDEC and Intel DDR5 isn't going to be available for consumer purchase until 2020 at the earliest.

My first build for myself was a 440BX board :) PIII450@600, at 133FSB. I did get it to 675/150FSB, but my memory timings were much much worse.

They had the Slot-Key iirc, which enables S370 CPU's to be mounted on the Slot1.

    Ahhh, the good old days.

It's all the same with AMD.

So you either have to buy MSI G45-790XT, if you don't have it or a new AM3 motherboard. It's still the same.

My first was a pentium III coopermine @ 667 on a QDI advance 10 (via kt 133) s370 but i had hands on experience with slot 1 ! i do not think we will ever see a slot survives as long as Slot 1 !

not even close 940 and 950 both worked on ddr3 and ddr2 a lot of people explained above ,and from personal experience intel drops fast their sockets i had a problem a while back with my 3770k a dead motherboard (lest than 2 years i had the cpu ) with the 4770 to be on the end of the life cycle so i was not kean to change both motherboard and cpu z77 motherboards where nowhere to be found so i had to dive in the used market to get a Z77 motherboard and having this kind of problem with in 2 years you got a cpu like the 3770k ...well i do not want to be in that position again ...ever i would have brought a z87 motherboard to put on my 3770k no problem and is ok i would have been fine not supporting the new things that come with it .

940BE did not work with DDR3. It was DDR2 only as it was AM2+.

Didn't the nvidia 780i chipset support ddr3 and the 750i (which I owned) supported ddr2 with the same cpu's on the same lga 775 socket.
