Have not read about 5G. But frequencies and coverage which are available in Czech Republic can be seen on websites of our operators. LTE is nice and has coverage in larger cities, but some frequencies are practically non-existant. 4G has great coverage. So, people have to check what Frequencies phones support and check if it is sufficient for areas they intend to use devices in.
(I was considering phone with great HW, but outside large cities I would be left with GPRS, that's freaking dial-up modem.)

Dropping older standard for next generation radio may prove to have very little audience.

Until cellular networks stop having such small bandwidth caps, i see no point in this.

You can get unlimited here in the UK but it will cost you an arm and a leg to do so. next highest is normally 30GB which per a month wont last long, specially if you wanna watch 4k video

How many people actually watch 4k video on a phone?? Seriously seems rather pointless but maybe I'm missing something?

Well with higher resolution phones and more and more content coming out at 1080/1440/2160p using higher bandwidth. Though even 1080p content usage can easily use up data. And quite a lot of people do watch video content that high. I would too if I didn’t have such a tiny cap. Plus this is more for laptops which so many are using 4K screens even as a gimmick these days
