Good timing by Intel since all video media outlets reported on the GPUs coming out Q1..

Is anyone surprised? At this point I'd say just move to gen2 and don't even release this. It won't sell. Not at 3070 performance at best with Nvidia supposedly pushing the 4000 series out later this year.

I'd say the exact opposite: who cares about refinement, just release it now because miners are going to buy them all anyway. Let them get distracted and waste their money on the sub-par product, while everyone else gets the better next-gen product.

It won't sell? Only if its overpriced and scalped to death.
I'd buy a RX6700XT performing card for 250€ if Intel releases one.
There is market, even for inflated prices.
    Release when ready.

Actually I don't think miners are buying cards anymore. Quite the opposite, they should be at least, if smart, starting to get rid of their rigs. ETH proof of stake is coming soon, this year, maybe in the first half. And most of these miners are mining ETH. It would be wise to start dumping your rig now, when the graphic cards prices are at their highest, then to dump it when the upgrade is implemented. Also following the latest crypto crash, mining is not so profitable these last two months actually.
I'm already starting to see quite some mining rigs on sell, in my country.

Can't see much point in releasing these cards at all. I mean their top card can only compete with a RTX 3070. By the time they release the first Arc cards, RTX 4070 will be out and leaving Arc well and truly in the dirt.

I don't know if any of that matters when every single card that's being produced is instantly sold.

You would now, will you in Q2 when other products are announced from competition? That was my point. The further these are delayed, the slower and pricier they are in comparison to more powerful cards expected later in the year.

I can also see lots of second-hand graphics cards and whole mining rigs for sale, but the prices are exceedingly high. I hope you are right. However, in the end crypto is all about speculation, so it can always go either way.

Crypto is speculation without any fundamentals so its pretty much all sentiment. When the stock market starts to falter a bit in a normal correction cycle crypto will like crash hard asf.

lol, everyone talking about next gen cards coming out later this year like anyone is going to be able to get one. All Intel has to do is release a half-way decent card and they will sell out.

Judging by intel's perpetual delaying of gpus we won't see any of it anno 2022.

I don't mind upgrading to RTX3070 performance at all.

The real issue for Intel is still their gpu drivers. They've covered some ground, but, they're still waaay too slow. They can't deliver day one triple A games drivers. That reputation is killing them right now, especially within the handheld PC scene (where SD is all the talk).

They need to fix the crashing and compatibility issues asap and be more forward looking with their support for the latest games. Otherwise, the war is already lost before they've started.
