Not surprising. I owned no less than three (3) i7xx GPUs after Intel bought Real3D (IIRC) and marketed it for a while until it became evident that the i7xx was not competitive with GPUs by 3dfx and nVidia, even, at the time. I took them all back for refunds. They had an Achilles heel in that they all depended on AGP texturing, which was dog slow because it was limited to the system ram bus instead of having 16MB of onboard ram like Voodoo 3's were blessed with. One of the Intel GPUs had 4mbs onboard ram, then 6mb, then the last one had 8mbs, and because Intel limited the GPU to the system bus it was soundly thrashed by both 3dfx and nVidia GPUs of the day. It was horrible, in other words, and so few were surprised when Intel dropped out of the GPU business entirely. I certainly wasn't surprised at the time. Intel was far more interested in promoting AGP texturing than it was in the GPU markets at the time.

This doesn't bode well for Intel's latest foray, but at least it explains why they aren't yet shipping in the Western markets. Sounds like there's a long wait yet, if ever they do appear in our markets, that is.

No, it sounds like an AMD review written by a nVidia shill...;)

Intel drivers are in an early stage alot of work to be done. For amd it took 10years fixing the drivers to be on nvidia level.

Ah… Intel is going the “works best with an Intel CPU” route with their cards…

I want one anyway as backup GPU, they all have AV1 Hardware encode, even in basic model.
Look at their encoding capabilities, they have everything

It's quite understandable why Intel refuses to release the cards in the West. No Western customer, aside from reviewers or others purely academically interested, would put up with a product that broken.

I watched Gamers Nexus' in-depth review of this card. Some may buy it for the novelty of being a discrete graphics card made by intel, but the A380 can stay in China for all I care. It's a rubbish budget card.

I want to see how well the high-end A770 does.

    :rolleyes:Quelle Suprise:rolleyes:

Intel has to ship product w/ immature software

it sounds like the staffing on the software side was cut-down in a "cost savings measure" idk 4 sure but it does have a whiff of stank

Are you talking about the drivers that look like we're using windows me, for nvidia I mean? AMD interface is ages better than Nvidia, I would only buy Nvidia again if presented with an undeniable good performance/price card. Not happening.

Even though drivers and nvcp look like something from 20 years ago they are stable and work really well.

Despite the vast resources of Intel, this is something that can only happen by a huge segmented company. I simply cannot blame Koduri and others behind this project, since Intel's focus is clearly elsewhere. In time they will fix the drivers, likely before Battlemage is out, so let's keep thumbs up for their success on that. I'd assume though that the cheapest models can serve very well as basic display output devices, since Intel's graphic driver is okay for basic use.
I'm kind of saddened by all this, since the enthusiasm by the engineers is evident (check this video by Gamers Nexus, there is also another one on the channel), but it was to be expected in the light of all the rumours and Intel's communication.

PS. At the very least some decent FPS numbers via RajaMagic.

I only glanced at part of the main article, but it seems like all the testing was on Windows? I would expect Intel's drivers to be better for this GPU on Linux, although I don't have any knowledge if Arc has any Linux support currently.

Hey it's me, a reviewer with purely academic interests! I want this GPU :p

Good to see Raja helping out AMD. Someone is getting their EX employee award in the mail. Hopefully he has a tuxedo ironed out for the event and a speech ready to share.

I heard Nvidia is making the trophy which will be a leather jacket replica made from a 3D Printer.

Shilling for nVidia is the least of his problems, that guy has some serious mental issues. He started ranting about how a game is not of this era because the main character wasn't ugly enough.

early driver and the device is only fresh , will take intel time to come out with a better device and more stable driver's remember it took amd years!.

But what i will say, is in the interview gamersnexus had i could'nt comprehend when the intel speaker said "quote - Intel is the biggest igpu supplier and we are only starting to get into the gaming market"

How the heck they only starting to get into the gaming market when for year's and year's they have promoted mass ammount's of adverts telling consumer's to buy cpus for the best GAMING experience and the fact they have held the "intel extreme master's tournaments for years too!" So claiming to know nothing about the gaming sector and only freshly jumping in , is aload of tripe tbfh.
