I am liking the fact that the competition is so aggressive now. Intel just needs to do the same with the GPU market.

  4. That Intel's keynote was so bad. It felt so unprepared and amateurish that I had to laugh at some point.

Really looking forward to the reviews , they probably ordered the coffin for AMD already, just need the nails :D

    253W for a CPU.

My last gfx card used less than that. :(

Battle of the space heaters. At least this one has a better price.

  10. IMHO the AMD's idea of CPU using all available cooling headroom is just bad. I don't like it at all because I have CPU and GPU on the same loop sharing the same radiator(s). So I will definitely have to tinker with power limits for both CPU and GPU to find the sweet spot. Either way these CPUs are pretty much unusable in their stock configuration. I mean, stock CPU hitting 95C in 8 seconds even with water cooling that is just insane.

Damm I am going through withdrawls ,AMD 7xxx and the 13th gen is also not interesting for PC Gaming. AMD 5800X3D still awesome.Guess the new trend will be the X3d CPU's.

One good thing I can say 13900K will be good for e-peen if you get one that does 6Ghz but that will only last until the 6Ghz 13900KS are released in the next 5-7 months

Nothing interesting from Zen4 line and RPL.

In fact, gaming wise, they both shows how amazing the 5800x3D is and that's the right approach to games, now Ryzen 7000 X3D will be very interesting if they won't hamper MT performance as well.

Let's be honest CPU's just are not that exciting for gaming as we have more than enough compute. You don't even need the higher end parts anymore to get very high FPS.

I disagree. It's still an improvement in some areas, though let's be honest about the multi-threading "improvement" with RP-L. It's entirely due to the E-cores doubling up. I mean... I would laugh if that was the entire reason why they improve multithreading at all. xD Just tack on more useless cores that aren't good at anything. Good job Intel.

    It's true.
Gaming is a very small part of what new CPU's are able to impress with.

    Theres a ton more.

    The same prices as before.

This means the 13700k is going to be around 450€...

Even the 13600k is now more expensive than before...

I want to upgrade my system but Intel and AMD are going out of their ways to price me out of it...

    Why?
CPU and GPU is never going to run full speed at the same time anyway.
If the GPU is running full speed the CPU is just going to run slower if the thermal headroom is not there, but you would need to game and render on the CPU at the same time for that to happen.
You can always activate PBO and set a different max temp on the CPU, I have my 5800x on 85 for some extra safety with a aircooler.

I really dislike how tech is going now, we used to laugh at AMD for this years ago when all they did was throw power at something to get better performance

And last few gens of Intel and now the newest one of AMD it's just the same thing all over again, we should be looking for more efficenency not just keep throwing power till we see a performance gain. 13600k set to consume over 181watts? considering they nearly always under sell this should we expect 220-250 watts for a mid cpu that seems quite insane to me, Nvidia saying their top cards will consume 450-600w, even the mid cards now going to be around 300-400 watts.

Miss the days of Pascal and the older intel/ryzen where effiecency could be king... hopefully its just this gen thats crazy and next time we will start to see more normal levels of power

Yeah, when you shrink the nodes the energy density increases a ton even if the chip were held to the same power levels as the last generation. Its just harder to get the heat out when you don't have as much surface area.
