And I won't upgrade until they seek forgiveness from Putin.

I'll stay with an old rig.

Russia provides raw materials for chip makers.

You all know that we are at financial war. Prices are gonna rise more than ever before.

    Microchips

Shortages of microchips were a major problem throughout 2021. Some analysts had been predicting that this problem would ease in 2022, but recent developments might dampen such optimism.

As part of the sanctions towards Russia, the US has been threatening to cut off Russia’s supply of microchips. But this rings hollow when Russia and Ukraine are such key exporters of neon, palladium and platinum, all of which are critical for microchip production.

About 90 per cent of neon, which is used for chip lithography, originates from Russia, and 60 per cent of this is purified by one company in Odessa. Alternative sources will require long term investments prior to being able to supply the global market.

Chip manufacturers currently hold an excess of two to four weeks’ additional inventory, but any prolonged supply disruption caused by military action in Ukraine will severely impact the production of semiconductors and products dependent on them, including cars.

    It make me laugh...
They will still sale passing by chinese wholesale, as they were doing during cold war.
Also they can do semi-non-autorised copy, as from the same period (but who give you the plan and where is the foundry? lol)...

When i see the sanction "we will cut the russian finance" then few after brainstorming "but we will make exeption for this and that and also that..."
I am not talking about Ukraine vs Russia (it is not the right forum for that) but It's a drama for me to see the european alliance so weak and submisive to USA.
It's like we are talking to be in the same line than friends 1st then use our mind and face what it is possible to do...

    Strange and hard time... :(

Yuri, sitting in his basement sipping Pepsi Max, screams at his 32" gaming monitor. He's upset. He's been saving every single penny for that 12th gen upgrade and, just as he's about to hit the order button, he realises that he's banned from doing just that. Ordering. Buying. Upgrading. He curses the West. He's against the war, any war.

Intel, "That'll show Putin! (Evil laughter)"

Pointless. Putin should have announced that the Ukraine was hiding weapons of mass destruction.

Wonder would this actually ease supply to other regions and lower costs, other than Russia, that is?

No. As I posted above, chip makers costs will be higher. We are at war. Everyone's at a loss. Sad times...

Sadly this isn't gonna change Putins mind, he wants the entire Ukraine. Heck, he doesn't even care if that results in Chernobyl 2.0 it seems.

What AMD and Intel should do is each put 100 Million on Putins head.

Alliance of North Korea, China and Russia has much more strength and nuclear weapons and money than the rest of world combined. We should pray for peace. US, UK and EU are trying to annihilate the entire earth.

Some Russian oligarchs are already considering doing that.
Putin has become a liability to their fortunes.
With the Russian economy collapsing, and hitting every citizen, even soldiers will turn on Putin.
The longer Ukraine holds, the harder it will be for Putin to keep is head on his shoulders.

Russia is the weak part here... They're playing at 1970s war in 2022. "ooh they have nukes" that they will literally never use, and if they do, they'll just have it even worse than they already do.

The sanctions are here to make the common russian understand that their government is waging a war of conquest in a friendly nation for no reason other than dreams of empire in the minds of one man.
