I know processors take years to develop and most people defend that Intel had these in the works for some time.
I say that's BS: this is 100% a clear reaction to Ryzen and it's productivity value. It may not be a top winner for gaming, but most people like me would prefer to lose 10% in gaming and gain 50 or 100% in multithread performance.
Also, another chipset? Really Intel? Nope, I won't buy anything $hintel knowing I have zero upgrade path. At least I could get a 3770 to replace my 2500k, but currently this is BS.
I'm trying to hold of for 10/7nm parts before pulling the trigger and when I do, I'll sure go for the part that offers better price/performance overall.

Probably when AMD releases Zen2 in 7nm.

I can't see Intel's 8 core being competitive with the Ryzen 7 as of right now even the 7700k is still 40$(cad) more expensive than the 1700.

Yeah Amd did drop a bombshell on all of us pretty-much but in a good way tough,I wont lie I still like to build an intel-based system since my beloved 4790k retired. They are paniking and rushing releases like crazy,You can just tell!...If Zen 2 clocks higher which I hope it will interesting times ahead for sure. The part that pisses me off is they are still trying to charge a price-premium even tough they are clearly losing out to Amd this time around! Assholes.

For desktop? Idk, but they already showed off 10nm cannonlake in a laptop at CES this year.

I assume if this is true, Coffee Lake will be a 8-core part and the 4 and 6-core parts will be made from the same silicone.

Really 2018 might be as interesting as 2017 has been for CPU's if Ice Lake and Zen 2 both make it.

Basically if this is true z370 is dead before it even arrived

I hope not considering how bad 7800x is with latency. Early die shots show native 4 cores in CFL.

One of the few times I completely agree with you.

Kind had a feeling they were gonna do this with Z390. Regardless i'm hoping 8-core Ice Lake will come around March 2018 *fingers crossed* new chipset or not

I'm beginning to wonder if its even remotely possible to have a thread about intel without all you clowns showing up and reciting the same sh*t talk over and over. You think you're doing AMD a favor in some bizarre way but all you're doing is making AMD supporters look bad.

I think Intel are bricking it. I don't doubt they could quite easily make the new 6-core CPUs work perfectly well with Z170 and Z270, but they're just after cash, much like Samsung and Apple with the latest Galaxy and iPhone being $1000...

AMD have already promised AM4 will support Zen for at least another generation (or 2) and with the Raven Ridge APUs making an appearance soon, we've got a lot to look forward to.

How is Nvidia at a road block like Intel? They literally double perf/w every generation and bring a slew of add-value features to consumer parts and innovative deep learning to pro markets. Volta seems like it's no exception. Every single day there I read another article about how innovative they are and the opposite of Intel and you're saying they are the same.. what?

Archaic means? As opposed to what? What did RX Vega bring that's so new and revolutionary? Clock for clock the performance is essentially identical to Fury X. HBM2/HBCC and all the other stuff they tacked on for the prosumer/deep learning market doesn't really do anything for consumers. Like if that's the innovation you're talking about, it seems pretty dumb from a margins/marketing perspective which is adverse to stock value. Not to mention that most of stuff Nvidia already did first - HBM2 was on an Nvidia card first. Nvidia would have also had 3D Memory first with HMC but Intel/Micron effectively abandoned the project. Nvidia's been able to address unified memory since Maxwell and NVLink is a node based bus that's akin to Infinity Fabric but came nearly two years earlier. All the work AMD's doing on the front end to improve geometry performance Nvidia's had in it's architecture since Kepler, Tiled Raster since Maxwell.

There is no Nvidia API - you're talking about Gameworks, which are libraries, most of which are open source now, no more excuses for AMD's driver team - which were garbage excuses to begin with. There are plenty of Vulcan/DX12 benchmarks out - Nvidia doesn't really perform any worse in them and the only reason why AMD performs better than AMD's performance in DX11 is because of how bad their drivers/architecture are at parallelizing tasks single threaded tasks at dispatch. Something Nvidia worked around with innovation - the thing you say they don't have. They don't gain much on DX12/Vulcan because their pipeline is already filled.

Sorry, I hate Intel as much as you, I like AMD, I like what they are doing with stuff like Mantle/Vulkan, their processors - even some of the tech in their GPUs, I agree with your stock point, I own $20K worth of AMD stock - but saying Nvidia is the same as Intel in terms of innovation is ridiculous. Intel hasn't done anything of note in years, Nvidia does it regularly.

A-sync is not DX12. It's a catchphrase used in AMD marketing. Pascal beats all AMD GPU's in a-synchronized workloads.

Lol that's your response? A-Sync? That's what makes AMD this ultra innovative company? The fact that they launched something similar to G-Sync a few years later but made it a open standard, that's the differentiating factor? That's why Nvidia/Intel are "at a road block" but AMD isn't? A-Sync? Right..

You're literally the person that brought up DX12/Vulkan in an attempt to draw conclusions about innovation. There was a year long gap where AMD had a better implementation of Async Compute - there are a hundred catch-up features in Vega alone, I listed a bunch of them.

Also the argument has completely shifted and has even moved off-topic. I don't care about Nvidia vs AMD, It's Intel vs Nvidia - they aren't the same, not even close.

I don't recall saying there was a 2x speed up from the architecture. The clock vs clock part was in context of him calling the gains "archaic". So I'm not sure how your point relates.

So Maxwell can do 2Ghz on air using less than 220w? Part of the improvements are not just core efficiency but the ability to clock higher.

What's with these super AMD fanboys/trolls lately.

Every single thread gets some dude posting in every intel thread saying "Sh1tIntel won't get my money" or people like solareus who go way offtopic making bogus claims like nvidia doesn't innovate and is stuck in 1990(who digs holes continuously because he fails at arguments I might add.

Half the time you look at a thread you have wave through the BS to read ontopic posts.

Then there are idiots like this saying most americans are clowns, like seriously wtf does this have to do with anything other than painting himself as a total bigot?
