They could have added those improvements years ago but didn't - chose to keep fleecing people instead by re-releasing the same old stuff every year while requiring a change of motherboard for no other reason than to make more money out of people. Why should we reward them with our business now just because competition forced them to add these now? I'll give my money to AMD as a reward for freeing us from these shady Intel practices.

Few fps more at 1080p and less cores than even their previous gen. wow 2011 all over again.

    shouldn't the i9-11900K be 10 core/20 thread part?

The 11900K is going to be a 8/16 part according to many homepages, the allcore performance leaks are also slower then the 10900K, because of this.

I dont know why they test against the Ryzen 12 core, as for as i know, there is little difference between 5800 and 5900 gaming performance, so the only reason could be bragging that it is better then a 12 core and hoping people believes, it is better then the 10900K 10 core too.

Who says they are even comparing it to Zen 3? Wouldn't be the first time they bench against 1-2 generations earlier products...

Looking at the score id say it was Zen2. I'd bet money on 3900X.

Much larger and faster cores, but still P1272 process, so mainstream will be limited to 8-core. Enthusiast will come with LGA1700 mainstream-enthusiast platform later this year and will be made with 7-nm-generation P1274 process (branded Intel 10SF). I hope they will bring 10-core Golden Cove to LGA1200 as well.

And TSMC N5 won't be ready for mass production of high performance chips this year. Neither will DDR5. So hope Zen 4 will come with N7P or N7+ for AM4. While Zen 5 will come next year for AM5, with DDR5 and PCIe5.

Another underwhelming, 14nm release from Intel. Pass.

you keep bringing the same article + the same slides over and over again
do not even answer what is written in the prospectus
    but you bring a prospect that is registered HDMI 2.0 4: 4: 4 12BIT
    how ?
the standard says up to 8BIT

Why is there so much vitriol in this thread? Seriously guys, Intel finally improved its performance and is *trying* to come back. I don't see the problem here. Competition is a GOOD thing and this is an example of what it does.

Like I said. This is a good thing. However, that said, they'll still have to sell at a good price and be in adequate stock in order to do much.

I have a single inquiry about this though... since RL is a 10nm+ design that's been backported to 14nm, what's power draw gonna be like? o_O

They can't make a 10/20 because power will get out of control and out of specs.

Also I bet they wont release 10nm this year.

Intel needs to bring a 10nm preview to the lga 1200 with low stock or production like the 5000 series. Other way it will be too late and nobody will care about lga 1700.

I think it's fine for what it is, 14nm.
Consumption might be higher but in gaming where you barely reach tdp 10W +/- who really cares.
They needed a competitor for ryzen and if price is right could be a better option.

Cores wise, 8/16 is still not topped these days, AMD went overkill with more cores for desktop.
Not to mention, encoding and 3D render uses the video card with much better results so whats the point having so many cpu cores.

To me it looks like cpu is starting to matter even less for almost everything desktop use.
I don't even want to look at the future 4k gaming where cpu is probably the worst investment.
