Intel: 10nm slowly coming in 2019, 7nm with EUV is on track

Can't solve 10nm and yet 7nm is on track?! Am i Santa or something?

 

Intel need to get their manufacturing back on track soon because it looks like TSMC are delivering. 7nm is already in production and it looks like they've just announced 5nm will start sampling next year, with full production in 2020.

They did solve 10nm now (or claim to), it just takes time to roll out mass production, which is scheduled for end of 2019 now. They did admit that they reached too high with the 10nm process which resulted in the problems.

Innovation is always a risk. You may run into something you can't solve quickly, as Intel has learned. Could've been more conservative, but they wanted all the things with their 10nm - and it came back at them.

 

They can not even produce in 14 nm and now they will get in 7nm ???? Already put chips to be made in 22nm that were in 14nm. Propaganda for the FANBOYS

 

They can produce 14nm they're just struggling to keep up since it's handling all the workload that should've been on 10nm.

 

They can sell more chips then they can make, not because they suck at making them, but because they are selling way too many of them. One reason of that is that 14nm is sticking around this long, and 10nm was supposed to take over a bunch of the load already, but thats still a year out.
There are absolutely no production problems with 14nm, other then capacity.

 

No problem? I've always used intel my whole life and I say I'm tired of being eaten by a fool. I bought the 5.1Ghz 8700K for 350 euros a year I was lucky.
Now cost 430 euros and to tell you the truth the 7700K costs 375€

Laptops yea but server market is going to see changes just at a slower rate than desktops. Security and overall price to performance ratios are much better on EPYC. The server market is just taking a bit longer to shake as many companies have already invested in the Intel product and won't be updating for some time to come. Rest assured the take rate on EPYC is increasing and Intel is aware.

 

That is only a function of capacity and sales. They are selling more then they can make, so the price rises. If you have a factory that can make 1000 a day (arbitrary number!), thats it, no matter how perfect you are. Thats not a sign of any problems with that factory.
Building new factories takes a long time as well, so you can't react to these things very quickly, and the long-term plan was to spin up 10nm sooner then it happened. 10nm is the problem, not 14nm. The lack of 10nm causes 14nm to increase in price, thats all there is to it.

The delay of 10nm has a ripple effect throughout all of their products.

 

Intel... what is this??? Sorry I dont have interesting... I give value to my money...

this nm race is inverstor talk
for consumer all they want simply more-performance, cool, low-power, reliable chips... dont care much about the nm
now if u picking a cpu, 10nm cpu but with overheat issue OR 14nm cpu with abit higher power-usage but no overheat issue, which u gonna pick ?
what people want with smaller node is more-performance/watt.... but no one gonna pick the one with overheat issue anyway

 

They were just talking about it at the local bar over a few drinks. They had some good ideas tho.
