Just want to bring this game to the attention to anyone who may be looking for a new fps to play. It's pretty realistic(relative to other games) and HARD. You HAVE to use cover. It's not a run and gun CoD/BF clone. I'd call it a mix between CS and BF with a touch of Arma, but even that isn't entirely accurate. I got it on Steam on sale for 5$ but it's $15 now. It's pretty sweet, my favorite shooter right now.
I remember playing this years ago when it was a mod... very fun, although I have never played the standalone.
As interesting as the new update looks, I just can't go back to playing games on Source engine. I just can't.
If it helps, this is Source at its best (highly modded). You can aim down the weapon sights, the lack of which is the reason I can't play most Source games. Insurgency is ****ing brilliant.
I've played it, but it's really hard, you die fast too. Very tactical game, not for people who like to run around like a maniac. Biggest complaint for me, i usually can never pinpoint the enemy who killed me. The gun sounds are very impressive, so are the gun models look stunning for a source game. Only thing the models miss are wear on the guns, they look like plastic toys. :nerd:
It's pretty damn fun. There's more actual teamwork than other games too. Mainly cause there has to be. And yea it's hard, but that's also part of the reason I like it. It's refreshing. And it's not like it's just AI killing you hard. It's hard against other people, which means it's hard for them too. You have to actually make decisions. Definitely takes some getting used to to learn what to and not to do. If you're just starting it I'd suggest first doing the tutorial and then playing some co-op rounds before you go into player vs player. I got this and BF4 about the same time and this is much more entertaining to me. BF is fun for a bit but it's just too..arcadey. Too many vehicle/sniper whores. I've always preferred infantry play with actual infantry guns. Not everyone running around with AWPs.
its a great game, theres no denying the action is satisfying and the games are intense...but, there's just not enough meat to it for me. It'd be nice to see leaderboards, levelling and some things to aim for, just feels a little empty to me. Try Heroes & Generals, free on Steam....very very good.
That's part of why I like it too, though. It's something you can just pick up and play. I don't want all that drama and tedium. And I'll look, my friend like WW2 games.
