Like title says. Only time i get warnings is when i open my external HDD's, wich are 2 (1TB + 80GB). Everytime i plug in one of my drives i get a warning "somerandomname".exe has stopped working. Every single time it's a new random name like Q5a&9&.exe for example.. AVG Internet Security says it's an Incryptor or something? But not able to remove the thread. Also i get warnings when the so called application has stopped working and some window (Windows 2000 style) pops up wich is blank. I have no idea how the hell this happened... it was there all of a sudden. I just want to acces my files wich i cannot afford to loose.. can anyone help?
Which programs did you already use to try to remove it? Spybot S&D, SuperAntiSpyware, AntiVir, etc., etc. are some standard tools you should use first. If it's still not gone after those scans there are other tools and online scanners which you can try, too.
You could also try downloading Hirens Boot CD. I think its up to 9.9 now. It contains many Virus/Spyware checkers that run off the CD in DOS and/or WinXP live CD. http://www.hirensbootcd.net/
I have a licenced copy of AVG Internet Security 8.5. I will try Hirens Boot CD but does it support external devices through usb? Man, i don't want to loose everything again
get malwarebytes and reboot into safemode and do a full system scan with the external drives hooked up. may want to do avg too. malwarebytes will most likely find and fix it pretty quickly.
I still suggest you backup important data to a secure location, perhaps a clean USB stick, DVD? Some viruses damage data, while others just annoy the crap out of you. I've seen some that make drives inaccessible, so its still better to back up your data first. I personally suggest Avast, and its bootup scanning mode. It's similar to those boot CDs, it starts up before Windows loads, and is able to remove most viruses out there.
Try going to Start -> Run and type in "msconfig" Now go to startup and look for a weird looking .exe file or .dlls and disable them then locate their directories and delete them.
A lot more detailed list can be obtained by running: Autoruns for Windows http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx
a program i recommand is "combofix". i works very well against spyware/virus. http://www.combofix.org/ http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix
1: msconfig and shut down all blank/oddly named startup items 2: Virus scan in safe mode If that fails, best option would be a format.
I appreciate it everyone! Thank you for your help, i will try everything this weekend when i can get some time on my hands. I geuss a format would be the easiestway but i got allot loaded up.. and allot installed so i wish to keep everything intact
