"Okay, if you are like myself and you don't even install GeForce Experience then you can skip this all-together."

    Skipped. Thank you. ;)

First of all, the user is this: https://www.reddit.com/user/lhikary
the Reddit thread is called PCMasterRace: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/

On topic, I always put all the (growing number!!!) nVidia services on Disable except "nVidia Display Driver" which is on Manual so it gets started if needed (and sometimes in starts but it does not hurt performance or anything), and I do not have any issue at all.

Regarding GFE I kinda skip it lately, it was the last straw when it did not detect neither the Steam nor the boxed version of The Witcher 2 that I had installed, so much for that.

Yeah, I used to have the whole budle of programs (including the streaming service) installed because I thought that having GFE automatically checking for driver updates was cool, and I suppose in retrospect i was just too lazy to uninstall the rest of the crap.

I remember when a driver download from Nvidia was just that: Just a driver, nothing else. Nvidia just couldn't resist the urge to turn that download into bloatware could they? Oh software developers, you just can't resist the urge to do things you are not good at. I suppose I should be grateful that our Nvidia overlords allow you to deselect the stuff you don't want.

Anyways, the last time I re-installed Windows I said "no" to everything but the display driver. I don't need 3D glasses or a streaming service or a game settings "optimizer" or any of the other crap that Nvidia insists on bundling with the driver.

Do you need GFE to use DSR and Gsync?

Geforce Experience adds a ton of useful features for a lot of people with little to no impact on system performance. In total it probably takes up 30-40 megs, literally nothing. You can turn it off during install. It's a value-add that is made accessible via the driver. I doubt 1/10th of the number of people would even know about it, without it being included. It's seriously a non-issue.

about the "zero effect" "placebo" etc etc

it's true and not true at the same time

HTPC Apu + 4gig ddr3 + 750Ti without there is a nice gain in most of the case

on my workstation dual Xeon + 64gig DDR3 ECC + Quadro 5000 + tesla with or without it's the same (btw used the same driver as in the htpc but mod to run quadro... and no i will not put the 750ti to post real benchmark...)

so i guess that it depend on ressource used... shadowplay and GExp stay in background so it consume a few, that could cripple some PC rendering enough to have a difference with and without.

anyway as twich and raptor(amd evolve) both shadowplay and GExp are useless so why keep them :) ???

This had no effect on game benchmarks or synthetic benchmarks for me: 3DMark11, Firestrike, Sky Diver, Batman Arkham Origins, F1 2012, Bioshock Infinite, Metro Last Light, Tomb Raider. Maybe it just has an effect if you have a CPU that is weak or doesn't have many threads?

    ^THIS!^

How do people get the updated SLI profiles if they're only released through GFE or does everyone just wait for the updated profiles when the next driver gets released?

I try it yesterday and suddendly my games started crashing (LoL, GW2). Re-enabled the service and everything was back to normal.

Pretty sure this has been said but disabling this doesn't stop Shadowplay from working at all.

thought this was common knowledge, remove geforce experience all together it will save you 200mb ram and a bunch of other resources.
also in Nvidia control panel, if you only have one display turn off multi display performance mode for single display performance mode. Otherwise sometimes generally after the driver crashes it will see the display twice and you performance will dump

Also,I want to have the option GFE gives me to tweak gpu's led brightness..(50% is my taste,at default 100% is way too much)

I will try something now, I will keep this service stopped and see if any new upcoming game profile will be added, this way I will know for sure that it can be stay stopped without any problems. (I don't use Shadowplay so I don't know/care if it's required)

I get the feeling this isn't a "tweak" so much as someone who had their system configured incorrectly. Nothing to see for most people.

If this works as a tweak for some, it'll probably be due to low-end system / bad settings in some way.

For me there is 0 (Zero) difference in having those services running or stopped.
I use Experience for Shadowplay, as it is a very nice (free) recording tool with almost no performance hit, and not using it would force me to buy another recording tool.

That being said, if you do not use Shadowplay or streaming, surely you should not even install experience. 'Optimize' tool is fluff at best.

I think where most ppl will gain is googling some windows optimize guides and such, and make the proper changes for their system.

Perhaps that's actually related to a bug. I'm not having FPS issues (or more like stuttering rather then FPS) with an older installation of GFE.

One of the newer versions however would constantly cause spam in the Windows Error Logs and it was related to this service.
