    (1) Will I see an over all improvement in my performance in games with this card (XpertVision Geforce 6600 128 Bit 128 MB) compared to my current (XpertVision Geforce FX 5900XT 256 Bit 128 MB)?

    (2) Getting a Standard 6600 was a better choice than getting any other card considering I dont and will never have enough money for the 6600 GT model was it Not?

    it's costing me $209 Australian

(The 6600 GT version is $320 Australian)

I've already got it orderd and coming so there is no going back now.

Well, I would have tried to look about a bit for a 6600GT at a better price. That said from what I've heard good things can be expected from the 6600 series, just not expect a MEGA jump from your 5900XT. But a jump none the less :)

Alot of them overclock to 6600GT core speed (300 to 500) but your ram speed will only move approx 100 mhz (500 to 600 ish)

Sorry, but this is a really scary upgrade.
This card (the 6600) does have support for some DX9-Features, but it's performance will definitly not be much better than your actual 5900xt.

Maybe in synthetic benchmarks but not in Game-performance.

Maybe in older games. But the fx5900xt doesn't have much of a chance in newer Dx9 or shader heavy titles against the 6600.

The problem with the basic 6600 is the memory clock. It isn't clocked very high--much lower than the GT's. Go for the GT model instead. Save some extra money for it because it really does provide more bang for the buck.

If you do decide to go on a basic 6600, you probably won't notice a difference, except with DirectX9 titles.

Why would you even post about this if the decision was made already? There is always something better then what anyone will buy. If you want to justify your purchace then perhaps look at benchmarks rather then ingame performance.

He was trying to say that the upgrade is not worth the money, because it's not. Other than proper support for for PS 2.0, it's 128-bit memory bandwith and just regular DDR ram, limit the card alot. So actual frames won't be that much higher, deffenitly not worth the money he is spending.

    khohne,

You made a stupid decision buying that card. It definately is not worth the money you are spending on it. You will not see a game performance increase in most games. And I also think you should have consulted us before buying the card, not after. You could have saved a lot of money.

I love my 6600GT. I play alot of games, and for me I couldnt justify going to a 6800GT the 6600 will keep you in the game for a good while.

When you get it don't open it and try to send it back and spend $40 more on the GT. It'll be worth it. The 6600 is a great card. The thing is, Nvidia came out with some sh!tty 5series cards...except for the 5900fx(IMO). So yes you will see a difference but not $200 worth...maybe you could flash the BIOS....nevermind scratch that.

Sorry, I didn't see your price differences in Australia...$320 for a 6600GT is high. You can almost get a 6800GT 256 for that price in the states. I wouldn't worry about it too much, but if you can, try to send it back. ;)
