There's a lot of victim playing on this forum of late by newer members, who more often than not are the ones making the attacks and flinging the insults to begin with. You're part of an elite group, congratulations! I'm not going to bother addressing the rest of your post, it clearly relates to something I've already mentioned in a response to Denial.

You have a good day now!

Dude the people buying an iMac don't give a crap about 99% of that stuff you just said. They want a good looking system for their office computer and that's about it. You think an accountant or an HR person or anyone not in the tech industry is going to care about whether their computer is well ventilated or whether or not it's going to be easy to upgrade?

Like what bubble do you people live in where this happens? Where everyone is well versed in technology and actually gives a **** about their computer? I need to move there, it would make my job a lot easier. The vast majority of people I know and deal with on a daily basis just want something that works. If it looks good that's a plus.

No, but probably because I read the thread title and knew how upset I would get if I opened it.

That's because you're in denial and also blind and special both at the same time.

yeah two totally different markets the one are for mad and gullible and the second one is for the smart, rational and more prudent people overall.

You have now failed twice to post a relevant proof or evidence that Iam wrong. So I don't know why you act in such a haughty and patronizing manner, are you compensating anything?

Thanks for the offensive words, much appreciated and also reported. How many 5k monitors are in the market? 1 or 2? Stop acting silly and being a iIdiot.

    Lol. The trolling is real.

If there is only one or two 5K monitors on the market how can you possibly make a statement about how overpriced it is? What is the cost of a sharp IGZO monitor @ 5K? The 4K ones are all around $1600. The only thing you have to compare it with is the other 5K by Dell, which is priced identically to this except it doesn't come with an entire computer attached to it.

And no, don't go compare it to a non-IPS or a ****-tier panel with uniformity worse then garbage, because that's literally the only thing you're going to find at 450 Euros.

whilst i refuse to buy anything apple related because of the same arguments people have already mentioned (higher price than competitors offering similar solutions) i can totally understand why people would buy them. If you change the subject matter to cars vs trucks its a whole lot more understandable, and forgivable.

i can go outside of my place of work and within 50 metres find 5 insane pickup trucks that could pull a house or climb mount everest that people use as a general runaround to and from the store in. Would i buy such a vehicle? no, definitely not - but for some people the truck they own and drive around is their baby, its a toy that they enjoy using regardless of the ridiculous purchase price and impracticality compared to other options available.

this is the same thing when it comes to the mac vs pc debate that will literally never die. people who build their own PC's find it impossible to understand why anyone would shell out a good 30% more money towards an all in one unit that doesn't even perform as well as the system they can build themselves for the same money. Here's the thing: people LIKE macs, they don't give 2 long and curly's about what us PC enthusiasts say or think about their purchase. its their toy, they like it - nothing else matters.

I would have expected a more workstation orientated GPU like a firepro or quaddro/tesla to be paired with that high a resolution of screen though, but i guess that would be directly competing with their mac pro "trashcan" systems.

anyway, i'll stop hijacking the thread now

Not everyone is like you and I. What you are doing is making a poorly judged assumption. Fact is, DIY market is still considered 'niche'. Can YOU replicate the marvellous design and form factor and throw all the components together like Apple did? I don't care what you (and I) can build for what price; 90% of all PC consumers buy them in stores pre-built. And in the case of Apple, leading the sales by a huge margin for PC desktop sales.

Do you actually understand the difference between a 4k TN panel and this 5K panel?
Do you actually understand the large difference in resolution from 4k to 5k?
It is actually a really fair price.

I mean, why are you even mentioning a gsync monitor? It has absolutely no relevance to this product segment.

"Go then, there are other worlds than these..." or something like that.

Anyway man, it seems like you may have a severe cranial rectal inversion, I highly recommend you go see a professional.

Sometimes you really just need to objectively evaluate something, and try to do so without bias.

I don't mean to single you out, but your comments are so...ignorant--sorry.

*BTW I do not own, nor have I ever owned an Apple device-- I have never had the need.

i actually thought $2499 for a 5k display and good specs in a small elegent form factor is priced quite nicely, but thats just my opinion. What's amazing to me is how they managed to fit all that hardware as well as the screen itself in such a thin bezel of the monitor. The design and finish is beautiful, man im drooling over this 5k monitor.

Yep, your trolling has been just woeful. Who would even buy an ips panel these days, only graphic designers, even they use standard full HD monitors.
It is overpriced, when I can get a non ips 4k panel for 460 euro, why would I pay more than 3 times as much to get a 4k ips panel? What's the point in doing that other than having that kind of monitor and brag about it on the internet.

That is a sad state of affairs allright, when you think about it, it feels like some people have no brain inside their skulls, well they might have brain, but they are without brain cells, if they buy something so overpriced when the real time performance is next to none compared to that what you and can build yourself for lower price, so should I feel honored to be in the 10% minority that builds his own home rig? I feel sorry for the poor souls buying apple products.

Why use such big and offensive words (severe cranial rectal inversion) ? Why are you even defending something you have clearly no knowledge about? Have you been born with severe dementia or is it something recent that happened to year head?

Well first of all, I was not mentioning any Gsync monitor, I have no idea where did you get all that nonsense from.

Second of all Iam not ignorant, Iam one of those who use rational thinking, unlike you of course, who instead of flailing my hands up in the air and throwing money at a company that doesn't deserve them one bit, I am actually using my brain to evaluate the the true value of the product.

Lets just say there was a certain group of people rating themselves very highly, while the more knowledgeable people were doing the opposite.

You're honestly doing this for the sake of it now, aren't you? Keep it up, you'll get a nice custom title and the forum will be a better place for it. Claiming other people don't know what they're talking about when you spout so much nonsense in one post is incredible really, especially that hilarious part regarding graphic designers only using run of the mill 1080p monitors.

    PS:

    Oh really?

As much as I despise Apple hardware. I know for a fact that some of the best software such as that used in music production is made/optimised for Apple OS.

Why has this thread lowered into a name slinging fight?

People dont usually buy Apple Mac etc for gaming. Why do people always revert everything to games...

I meant a 4K monitor, obviously I have no idea why I wrote a gsync monitor...As for the name calling, they started it when I expressed my opinion on this matter, I just wanted to blend in and to adapt to the feeble minded, sometimes it's hard, but I really do try. You know what else is funny? Those who used offensive language against me haven't even recieved any infraction points at all and it's more funny when you realize they started all this childish name calling.
I didn't say graphic designers use "Run-of-the-mill" 1080p monitors. I used the word standard, that means all the full hd monitors ranged from Led LCD to IPS panels, so please stop with the confabulations.

I totally agree with you here.

Although my nephew is going to high school soon and I went with him to look around the school (which I went to myself around 10 years ago now since I left) and they have kitted the school out with brand new iMac's!!

I was a little taken back, and I asked the teacher showing us around why do you have mac? and his reply was astonishing. He said and I quote "oh we have those because they cool now".

Not, because they are better than PC's, not because they are easier to use, or because they are used more for design like photo and video editing. But because they are cool.

If that is the motto or schools these days god help the children in them because once they leave school and are accustomed to iOS and Mac's and they get a job where some company still uses Windows 7 or Windows 8 (we are talking about ten years from now and we all know how it takes companies to upgrade their OS). The kids are going to be stumped and have no idea what they are doing.

A little off topic but still I was completely amazed by his response. Not the fact that it will help the child but because it looks cool and the "in" product now.

*heh* You, too...;) That's what I think I've enjoyed most about Apple fans over the years--if you don't tow the party line then it's only because you're in an "elite" group--and of course today no one wants to be "elite"--just dumb as a bag of rocks...:nerd:

It's not a matter of being "elite"...it's simply a matter of having enough sense as a consumer to want to know what's *inside* the tech products you buy. That's all--it's not hard to understand. You either do or you don't, you're either "edumacated" or else you are little more than a bumpkin who fell off the tech tomato truck yesterday.

There's no getting around the fact that the person who buys an Apple personal computing product is in effect forfeiting his right to pick and choose his own hardware and surrendering that privilege to Apple. Completely. Instead of you as a consumer making your own informed, intelligent choices, you simply take what Apple decides to give you and call it a day. Thus, the well-earned nickname "sheeple," etc.

Take the front page of Guru3d.com, for instance--here is a site that has been dedicated for years to educating its readership with good, solid, wholesome component information. Lots of good reviews here, constituting thousands of hours of work and effort across the years, for the express purpose of enlightening its readership. I think my main point is that if you choose to remain ignorant inside "Apple land" you're making a conscious choice to do that because you don't have to be ignorant. The Internet today is chock full of good product information just waiting for any consumer who cares enough to seek it out.

Sure, I realize that not everyone cares enough to learn about what he's buying when it comes to tech. But, hey...that's your penultimate iPhone customer, isn't it? A cell phone is probably all that consumer needs, anyway.

What's "good looking"...? That's really funny--but I agree with you completely that skin-deep is about as deep as most Mac customers ever go. There's definitely a niche market for "good looking" office furniture. Most people in the business-related tech market, though, are looking for bang-for-the-buck as opposed to "good looking."

And if you find any accountants looking for "5k" one-piece iMacs, I'd love to hear about it...;)

Uh, so you don't think accountants or HR persons are interested in saving money? Interesting...

Uh, like the IT bubble in corporations? But, you probably didn't think about that did you? (Apple isn't even competitive in that giant market.)

Why are you upset? I think it's funny, myself...;) All through the years it's almost insane (to coin a Jobsian phrase) to think about the number of people who confuse "good looking" with efficiency, and just pour out of the woodwork the moment anyone utters anything critical of an Apple product.

Take this thread, for instance...I simply pointed out why I didn't think a one-piece iMac is a "good deal" or something I would ever want to buy...and almost every response in the argumentative has been emotional--not a one of the points I raised initially, addressed or answered. It seems you cannot even legitimately make fair points about such Apple products without stepping on some sacred cows. If anyone thinks that an iMac is above criticism...well, that's just insane...;)

Seriously, why even have a product thread if you cannot discuss things rationally? Why is, "Man, that product is great...drool!" supposedly the only allowable commentary? HH doesn't write his reviews that way or he'd have been gone years ago...;) I can't see anything at all wrong with describing why it is that you dislike a particular product--there are plenty of non-Apple products I criticize, too. Seems perfectly on point in a product thread.

Because it isn't rational. Your initial comment criticized apple/people buying apple stuff on the basis that everyone in the entire world has the same passion for technology as the people on this forum and that they should care/put in effort to do research about it. I'd say the vast majority of people won't put in the effort. They'll buy a Dell. Then a smaller minority don't care, they'll buy an Apple device. Then an even smaller minority care and will put in effort, they'll build their own rig.

And you've obviously never worked in a large business if you think accountants and HR people care about money. The financial division of my company had 26 people in it and 14 of them are using Apple products.

Don't even bother, these stuck up apple fanboys won't ever get it, you can't persuade them nor you can change their critical thinking, you'll get an infraction instead, just like me and they will get away with insults without a problem.

A standard 1080p monitor (aka the most common) would be a TN panel. As for the insults directed toward yourself, the first mud-slinging I saw in this post was from you. Or did you forget the way you essentially claimed people in the market for a 5K monitor were mentally unstable and inept? This isn't the first time you've pulled a stunt like this. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the victim card routine is getting old with certain members.

What I'm seeing currently is one of the best 5K screens on the market at a very good price considering it comes with a computer slapped on, one which is potentially quite fast in a very small form factor. I keep seeing this argument of "Tech Savvy" and "Value for Money" but they're pretty much irrelevant. Not everyone needs to worry about value for money, different people have different budgets. What costs a lot for you might be a drop in the ocean to someone else. As has been stated: This product is clearly not focused on gamers, and no it's not focused on "stupid" people either. It's targeting people and/or companies with higher budgets that want screen real estate in a small form factor with a touch of style.

As for someone being tech savvy and self building, again that's not important for the majority of the market. Do you think companies running multitudes of rigs hand build them? They order in large quantities from the likes of Dell or Apple, depending on their requirements. They do this for several reasons, business warranties and support being a couple of those reasons. People focusing in HR/Admin based fields are not obligated to research in depth into computer hardware, it's not relevant to them. You could use the same argument for operating environments, why do you think Microsoft based o/s's are the most common when Linux could be used instead?
