Well , i'm having strabge problem ... i got Windows XP SP2 and IE6 SP1 and all updates . but having recently a problem that blockes all other Plugins in IE , like Flash java and all other ActiveX . I had to install a standalone Flash player and that was ok , but now i still have problem with Java , when i try enter to site with java features IE just closed emeditly , and i find a error log on the desktop from java . and all other ActiveX apps , like online anti virus scans don't work for me at all . and yes i enabled all activeX on the security tabs .
Well probably everyone that will reply to your post will say this: Use Firefox or something else other than IE.
First thing I want to say: change to Firefox. But this isnt of course an answer. I googled a bit around and found two things that could solve your problem: 1. Open the "Run" screen (windows key+r) 2. Run the following command: sfc /scannow 3. When done, reboot. This will check all your system files and repair corrupt ones. (sfc stands for System File Checker) Other way: 1. Make sure you can see hidden files and folders. 2. Browse to C:\Windows\inf (in case you installed Windows on your C: drive in the folder Windows). 3. Right click on ie.inf > install 4. Reboot when complete Hope it helps.
