I upgraded the motherboard, CPU and RAM, and i'd like to OC the CPU, but not sure if the cooler - Noctua NH-D15 would be good enough for this
I'd be more than happy with 4,9 GHz OC
What do you think guys ? I could replace the cooler with some better AiO cooling, if necessary

    RoG Maximus XI Hero
    I7 9700K
    32 GB DDR4 ( 3200 MHz )

    GTX 1080Ti
The power supply is Corsair RM 750
    Case : Thermaltake Chaser MK-I
If i OC the CPU, do I have to disable the Turbo, first ?!
Any advices are welcome, thank you very much, in advance

You got a nice beefy Air Cooler and that will help you with your overclock , yes that Noctua it is more than enough for an 8 core without HT. I will provide a link for a very easy tutorial done by an extreme german overclocker Roman , follow that tutorial and you will be set in no time. It does not get any easier than that video tutorial :) .

I OCed an 9600K last week, and it seemed to require a lot of voltage to be stable under AVX Prime 95 v29.4.

5 ghz needed 1.42V and vdroops to 1.4128V
    Silicon lottery etc.

With 480 rad surface XSPC and m350 mcp pump I run 97-100 celcius under AVX and 81-82 with AVX turned off.
Might even be able to lower voltage when AVX is turned off (havnt gotten that far yet).

If u can keep your voltage under 1.4 I would say air cooling is sufficient if u got good air flow in the case.

While silicon lottery is a thing, make sure you're tweaking up motherboard settings as well and not leaving everything to AUTO.

There were some overclocks where it wasnt booting till I changed another motherboard setting doing the same voltages.

I got lucky with mine I think 5.0GHz @1.25V, 5.1-5.3GHz capable, 5.4GHz bootable (havent tried to stabilize it). RAM 3200@4400

My motherboard isn't even that great, I was considering the ASRock for the extra phases for ITX but needing that much voltage for 5.0GHz is crazy!:eek::eek:
