Resident Evil 2, the way they balanced the weapons (making you just a tad more powerfull then "defenseless") and the whole feel of the game... the whole game just didn't feel comfortable, it felt as if you just wanted to run out of that police station.
im gonna try this Undying, cheers. As for scares i would say res evil 1 remake on gamecube is worth a playthrough Movies,City of the living dead and Braindead for pure Gore.Hellraiser 1 and 2 also http://www.horrorhaven.org/newhome.php http://horrorflix.org/ 2 best horror movies sites on the web, almost every horror movie ever made is on these.
i have the original DVD of Rose Red and also have the prequel (The Diary Of Ellen Rimbauer) which shows you how they built the mansion in the first place and what really happened before the story of Rose Red. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0350811/ recommended if you missed it. if you need any more horror movies recommendations, i'm your man, with over 3500 horror movies at my disposal (including 3 hdds with over 2.5 Terabytes of nothing but horror) you can't go wrong. that's my 2nd passion beside Point N Click games. i buy most of my horror movies original and backup them as dvdrips files meticulously (maximum quality) with Fairuse Wizard 2.9 Pro so i don't have to use my original discs all the time (some are very rare and i don't want to ruin them), it's time consuming though when you've got boxsets such as the Friday 13th series a whopping 10 dvds (9 + 1 remake) or the Alfred Hitchcock movies over 30 dvds and a few Laserdiscs lol
ROFL......you can increase that scared factor in the second one 10 fold by having more than one child, i found that very very scary at times. LOL
yea Exorcist 1, Price of Darkness, TheThing, Event Horizont, Hellraiser, SilentHill, The Amityville, Descent, Diary of Emily Rose.. where some of the scariest moves yet !! lol im a big horror fan too, but not so much now, there seems to be nothing but crap in horror genre atm.
Cryostasis was quite freaky at the times. Stalker is pretty scary. F.E.A.R didnt scare me at all for some reason
Did see it right away after it was released, but it was a total letdown if you compare it to Rose Red. But its always nice to get that extra background info, even though its portrayed rather weakly. Sounds like an awesome collection you have there Used to collect movies myself back in the day before DVDs came, all i have left now of that collection is one of the first prints of Return of the Living Dead and the Dutch Collectors Gold Edition of Aliens that has making of's and and trailers and stuff on it, witch was quite rare on a VHS tape around 15 years ago ^^ the Thing and Alien are two classics that should be watched under better circumstances than in bright sunlight ^^ and What Lies Beneath is another gem that is often frowned upon, great movie imo. As for more games: Alien vs Predator, AvP2 and AvP2010, all three are pretty nervewrekcing in the Marine campaigns. Awesome games. Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth the Thing +1 for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. System Shock 2
silent hill was great, i played only SH4-the room.. most said it sucks but i found it very very creepy (despite of its crap controls) the story was just amazing and done to perfection; lol in fact i had a dream once that i was trapped in that room (later on when the ghosts started appearing) , and man that was some f*cked up dream i tell ya, i almost tasted the intense atmosphere and it felt so real, scary sheit wow:eek3:.. loll 2nd scariest has to be doom3, especially for the first 2, 3 times 3rd got to be penumbra 2nd and 3rd, the first "demo like preview" was scary too, but the amateur music killed it.. 4th Thief3.. towards the ending when you're in that madhouse and those "freaks" with metal cages on their heads were intense lol 5th The Call of cthulu also had some intense moments 6th The thing , AVP 2, Stalker, The rest is mediocre imo, like DeadSpace, Condemned criminal origins, Metro2033, re5..
check some of the faces in the "Faces Of Guru3D" thread in the pub, now that's scary on a more serious note and as a big fan of old classics... no one mentioned ALONE IN THE DARK 1
I had a dream last night that I was on a train, chatting to Hitler. @Year - what was that horror called that I couldn't remember the name of a couple of weeks ago??
I'd second Condemned. It's very "in-your-face" because of the hand-to-hand combat element, and there was a couple of moments that made me jump out of my chair. As it's a few years old, it should run pretty well too -- I think it uses the same engine as FEAR. I liked Doom 3 too for scares! Lots of darkness and beasties jumping out at you, but it got a bit inevitable after a while. In terms of more recent games, Metro 2033 has some good moments, but is a little scripted perhaps. What works there is the atmosphere of the entire world perhaps more than stuff that makes you jump.
