get married, im still laughing at that one, buy some 480s, then wait for electric bill. Penumbra is one of few games that make you jump, found that also. seems the element of surprise is what does it in a pc game. id say rent a horror film, but the newer ones, just dont seem that scary these days.
Dead Space for sure. Alternatively..... Cold Fear (underrated to hell and back) Silent Hill Undying Amnesia (whenever it gets a release)
I don't know that Alan Wake would "scare the **** out of you" but there are definitely tense moments throughout and a good story. Alternatively, dead space is definitely a good one. Or go replay any of the Silent Hills/Resident Evils up to about 4.
Doom3 - not a great game, but bound to make you jump when evil monsters spawn right behind you in a completely dark environment and you have to choose whether you want to hold the flashlight or the life saving shotgun!
here are the games i suggest + videos i uploaded during gameplay, watch them all. LostCrown: Ghost Hunting Adventure (best scares ever), now you'll understand why it's my favorite game of all times. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TE7hTXsw9Zk Darkness Within 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzDA7ZgPGFw Rhiannon - curse of the 4 branches http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNFfVvRXG6Y
Play the Half Mod 1 mod http://www.moddb.com/mods/afraid-of-monsters Afraid Of Monsters. Scary as hell even though it's older.
The original FEAR was great, especially near the end. Even the soldiers would creep me out in that game. Thief always made me jump, but I think that was more that I was concentrating so hard on being sneaky. Resident Evil 2 was another game which gave me the willies. Out of those 3, FEAR is easily the scariest and also the best game, tbh.
Hmmmm this Penumbra sounds interesting... Year I took a look at one of the videos, I'm not a fan of point and click.
