wait for the 6970s I'd rather get 4 6870s at the current prices (u say 5870s are priced wel??), oh and quad fire will be very problematic, I 100% discourage u from wasing ur money!!

i would go 3x6870 or 2x6970. atleast if u are in america though aus or uk prices are a little odd to me. 6870 are about the same pretty much as a 5870 and quad crossfire doesn't scale as good as 3 does. and the 6 series has awesome cf scaling so 2x6970 should be plenty

lol 4 cards.. i really dont think you will need that much unless you want to run PS3 emulator on your pc.. which doesnt even exist as far as i know.

68xx series can only go in Crossfire, forget about quadfire because it only has 1 crossfire finger.

don't know the pricing of the 5870 in florida, but here in the uk they cost a £100 more than 6870. 6870 will more than likely scale better, run cooler, drain less power and cost a LOT less!!! Sure you can't run 4 of them, but what exactly do you need 4 top end cards in your rig? Unless you're going for some bench records? run cooler, drain less power and cost a LOT less!!! Also, are you planning to use them with the cpu in your specs?

Yup firsthand experience here, Tri-Fire has worked great for me using a 5970 + 5870 setup. I am sure 3 5870's will work the same way, but for me I just over-clock the 5970 to 5870 speeds and higher depending what I want to do and, wallah there you have it !!

Also Please run the 3 card setup that you decide to get whether it be 5870,s or 6970,s on a high resolution monitor. I made the mistake of buying these cards and running them on a 21" monitor that only supported 1680x1050... >_>

It was like putting a Ferrari engine inside a GEO car... -_-

Now I have a 1080p 27" monitor so that is a little better but some day when the 2560x1600 resolution on the 30" monitors cost less money I will probably go that route.

Ok, enough of my jibber jabber for now.

I'd upgrade that CPU and ram to take advantage of them first.

Grats! pics would be cool. If it were me though i'd go with 2x6970's, idk the price difference though.
