Hi i just formated my PC, installed a fresh copy of everything with all the latest updates and patches (WinXP Pro SP2), and i keep getting error messages saying:

"Data Execution Prevention" To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program:
Name: Run a DLL as an App
    Publisher: Microsoft Corporation

Occasionally i get the Dr.Watson error as well...

I have set the DEP setting in system properties to Turn on DEP for all programs....
Before it was set to Turn on DEP for essential..... i still getting the same msg.

I would appreciate it if someone could point me to the right direction, I also use Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0.2.621

    Thanks,

"Run a DLL as an App" is Rundll32.exe.

Some software is using it to load a dll (e.g. the Nvidia tray icon). Startup processes using Rundll32.exe, will have Rundll32.exe in the "Command" if you look in msconfig under startup (Rundll32.exe C:\Path to dll).

You can try excluding Rundll32.exe. See Change Data Execution Prevention settings; To turn off DEP for an individual program

To disable DEP you need to use bcdedit:

    Disabling: bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff
    Enabling: bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn, bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx optin

    BCDEdit /set
